Scott Singer, former Boca Raton mayor, condemned his opponent Dan Franzese for relocating from Florida to New York, paralleling Singer’s own efforts to promote Boca Raton as a business-friendly city through extensive advertising, including a $70,000 campaign in Times Square aimed at enticing out-of-state businesses. Singer and Franzese are competing in a primary for Florida’s 25th District; Singer accuses Franzese of being a “political tourist” who has moved multiple times to seek office, while Franzese dismisses Singer as hypocritical, criticizing his record on issues like gun control and climate policies. The campaign also features criticisms over ads paid for by Boca Raton promoting the city as a business hub, with the ultimate winner likely facing Democratic incumbent Jared Moskowitz in a contested general election district.

After socialist Zohran Mamdani’s primary win in New York City, a Florida mayor spent taxpayer dollars on ads in the Big Apple to try to convince people to move to his city.
