Republicans believe that candidate Carrie Buck, a state senator with a strong record in competitive races, has a chance to challenge Titus, especially given recent demographic trends and her previous electoral successes. Despite being rated as “Likely Democrat” by some analysts, the district has leaned more Republican in recent elections, with Biden winning by fewer points in 2024 compared to 2020.

Republicans criticize Titus for her lack of accomplishments, while emphasizing Buck’s independence and local experience. The race is also shaped by broader national issues, including Trump’s presidency and policies such as the “no tax on tips” provision, which Buck supports. Democrats highlight concerns over Trump’s impact and specific policies like budget cuts affecting Nevada residents. The contest is expected to focus on whether voters prioritize Trump’s overall record or specific economic policies that resonated with Nevada voters, especially tipped workers.

President Donald Trump’s visit to Nevada on Wednesday came as Republicans bet that state Sen.
