Wesley Bell in a close primary race with Bell securing 71% of the vote. Bush, backed by the Democratic Socialists of America, faced a more favorable political habitat due to shifting public opinions on Israel, but her campaign was hindered by her association with controversial positions on Israel, her support for labeling Gaza actions as genocide, and her previous stances. Additionally, her campaign was affected by financial controversies, including employing her husband as security and investigations into campaign spending. bush’s defeat marks a setback for the socialist wing within the Democratic Party, which has seen recent successes elsewhere. The district remains a solid Democratic seat, and Bell’s victory is seen as a win for establishment Democrats backed by party leadership and pro-Israel PACs.

Former Missouri Rep. Cori Bush’s comeback bid fell flat Tuesday night, as Rep.
