John Kennedy (R-LA), an Appropriations Committee member, emerged from a closed-door GOP lunch Tuesday that he described as a \u201cworthless meeting\u201d despite having only a few days to address issues including government funding, Iran war spending, crypto regulations, and Russia sanctions. Don\u2019t know what we\u2019re doing,\u201d Kennedy told reporters. \u201cI\u2019m not saying that there\u2019s not a secret plan. \u2026 I\u2019m just saying I don\u2019t know what it is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">None of the Senate GOP\u2019s priorities are up against hard deadlines, except for a House-passed government funding bill to avert an Oct. 1 shutdown.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Still, President Donald Trump has repeatedly called upon Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) to keep the chamber in session until it overcomes Republican opposition and passes the SAVE America Act to require proof of citizenship when registering to vote. More than a dozen other GOP senators have suggested they could, if it comes to a vote on a motion threatened by Sen. But he also offered his latest blunt assessment on the Senate math.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI wouldn\u2019t say I\u2019m isolated, no. I\u2019ve been very clear about the prospects for the SAVE America Act,\u201d Thune said. \u201cSeems to me, some days, I\u2019m the only one here who can count to 50 in this town.
