The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported two deaths linked to the outbreak, wiht both individuals having <a href="https://www.conservativenewsdaily.net/breaking-news/l-a-county-health-officials-urge-residents-to-wear-masks-at-home-to-protect-vulnerable-one-america-news-network/" title="L.A. The outbreak began before a voluntary recall of iceberg lettuce from central Mexico, which was identified as the source of contamination. The CDC and FDA have associated the outbreak with contaminated Mexican-grown iceberg lettuce distributed across at least 27 states, including through restaurants like Taco Bell.Common symptoms of cyclosporiasis include diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, and fatigue, and while antibiotics like Bactrim can treat it, many recover naturally. Cooking produce to at least 158°F can kill the parasite, but washing alone may not be sufficient to eliminate it. The outbreak is challenging to trace due to the parasite’s long incubation period, complicating efforts to identify the contamination source. Ohio reports over 4,000 cases, making it the second-highest affected state.

The cyclosporiasis outbreak that has infected thousands of people, particularly in the Midwest, claimed the lives of two people, according to Michigan health officials.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported in a news release that as of July 30, there have been over 11,000 known cases of the sickness, resulting in 193 hospitalizations and two deaths.

“According to medical records, both individuals had significant underlying health conditions that may have been impacted by cyclosporiasis and dehydration.
