Trump mentioned that many peopel support the fund and suggested it might be put back on the table in case Blanche’s confirmation is blocked. The fund has faced bipartisan criticism due to concerns it might be used to compensate individuals targeted in investigations, including those involved in January 6 events.

Blanche, who has been serving as <a href="https://www.conservativenewsdaily.net/breaking-news/attorney-lin-wood-defends-ag-bill-barr-after-announces-he-is-stepping-down-trump-voters-respond/" title="Attorney Lin Wood Defends AG Bill Barr After Announces He Is Stepping Down — ... Confirmation efforts are complicated by Senators Thom Tillis and John Cornyn, who want assurances that the DOJ has abandoned certain aspects of the settlement. Both senators hold influence over blanche’s confirmation, especially since Cornyn recently lost a primary challenge, and Tillis is stepping down.

Trump also criticized the Biden administration’s handling of January 6 rioters, framing the potential fund as a way to reimburse those considered victims of federal targeting. A committee vote on Blanche’s confirmation is scheduled before the Senate recess in August, with some optimism that he could proceed to a full Senate vote soon. Trump emphasized that many supporters of his favor the fund and Blanche’s confirmation, and he floated the possibility of renominating Blanche next year once current holdouts leave office.

President Donald Trump said Sunday afternoon the anti-weaponization fund he has intermittently argued for in recent months could be “back on the table” if the Senate doesn’t confirm acting Attorney General Todd Blanche.

“A lot of people like it,” he said while speaking to reporters on Air Force One. “If they don’t approve Todd, I could put it back on the table.”

Recommended Stories

Anti-weaponization fund could be ‘back on the table’ if Blanche not confirmed: Trump

Jay Clayton to take over as DNI on Monday: Pulte

Fauci’s diary details how his relationship with Trump soured

.@POTUS: “We have a man named Todd Blanche.
