Notably, OpenAI’s co-founder Greg Brockman and his wife donated $25 million to a pro-Trump super PAC in 2025, contrasting their recent contributions aimed at Democratic candidates.

The donations from Google and Meta staff were predominantly toward Democrats-over 70%-but also included some support for Republicans. Anthropic’s staff showed a more balanced split, with nearly 69% to Democrats and about 13% to Republicans, with important donations like $500,000 to DreamNYC. xAI’s employees donated a small total, mostly to Democrats.

The report also highlights perceived differences in political neutrality among AI models, with Elon Musk claiming that Grok, developed by Musk’s company, xAI, is the most neutral AI model, while others from major firms tend to lean more left politically. The article includes details about the political inclinations and donation patterns of staff members and mentions that several AI companies did not respond to requests for comment.

Staff from five of the world’s leading artificial intelligence companies disproportionately donated more than a million dollars to Democrats in the second quarter of 2026 alone.

Employees at Anthropic, Google, OpenAI, Meta and xAI gave a combined total of $2.02 million to Democrats and $274,000 to Republicans, according to Federal Election Commission records covering April 1 through June 30, 2026.
