The lawsuit, filed by the ACLU of DC, alleges that Guard members forcibly breached her gate, restrained, and restrained her harshly, causing injuries and emotional trauma. king was protesting the Guard\u2019s presence, which stemmed from an executive order signed by President Trump, and had banners criticizing their deployment. During the incident, she was shackled for 17 minutes and injured her wrist, requiring surgery. The event was captured on video showing her protesting and being wrestled to the ground. King, a retired Army captain, continues to experience significant detrimental physical and mental effects of this assault.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-1\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap wex-ad-art-dsk-inart-1\" style=\"min-height:90px\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" hidden>Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-15\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-1\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"article-paywall\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a two-minute video released by the ACLU, three National Guard members can be seen speaking with King as she tells them to \u201cget away from me right now.\u201d As the service members continue speaking with King, she yells, \u201cGet the f*** away from me right now,\u201d and waves what appears to be a white poster board in their direction.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As King attempts to go back into her home on New York Avenue Northwest, two of the men wrestle her to the ground as she yells, \u201cf\u2014 you.\u201d The third individual is standing to the side and appears to be on the phone, and King continues screaming and yelling profanities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhen armed troops brutalize Americans on U.S. soil, something is very wrong,\u201d said\u00a0Scott Brooks, a partner at Levy Firestone Muse who filed on King\u2019s behalf in conjunction with the ACLU. \u201cThe attack on Anna King should concern us all.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-2\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap wex-ad-art-dsk-inart-2\" style=\"min-height:90px\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" hidden>Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-16\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-2\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">King had banners outside her home criticizing the National Guard\u2019s presence in the district as part of an executive order signed by President Donald Trump, according to <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wusa9.com\/article\/news\/legal\/veteran-files-legal-claim-national-guard-assault-dc\/65-31a14e2f-8301-4b38-a9b7-5f3ea5b5f216\">reporting by WUSA 9<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the claim seeking $3 million under the Federal Tort Claims Act, King had asked why she was being detained and was given no answer. Metropolitan Police were called to the scene to assist the National Guard. King was handcuffed for 17 minutes with plastic restraints. When she complained the cuffs were too tight, MPD officers attempted to cut the plastic restraints, but they were allegedly so tight officers couldn\u2019t slide the blade under to remove them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The claim said King was being detained for an incident that occurred two days prior, in which she poured an unknown liquid on a group of National Guard members.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-3\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap wex-ad-art-dsk-inart-3\" style=\"min-height:90px\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" baseless, and to date no criminal charges have been filed against Ms. King in connection with any such incident,\u201d the claim reads.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to injuries caused by the handcuffs and being shoved to the ground, the claim alleges the incident \u201creactivated\u201d King\u2019s post-traumatic stress disorder that she was diagnosed with as a result of her deployment to Iraq.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"
