But when it came to answering for his corrupt handling of the outbreak before the Senate on Wednesday, the so-called health \u201cexpert\u201d kept his trap shut. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During his testimony before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, the former NIAID director <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/07\/29\/fauci-invokes-fifth-amendment-refuses-to-answer-for-his-covid-corruption\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">invoked<\/a> the Fifth Amendment to avoid answering questions about his lies to the public and his conduct throughout the viral outbreak. This included dodging queries <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/theblaze\/status\/2082454043843018854?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">about<\/a> his role in <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/02\/28\/fauci-and-ecohealths-peter-daszak-silenced-lab-leak-conspiracy-theory-congress-shouldnt-let-them-forget-it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">funding<\/a> gain-of-function research in China; <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/07\/27\/fauci-toadies-privately-called-lab-leak-theory-highly-likely-while-publicly-shutting-it-down\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">downplaying<\/a> the credible lab leak theory; ignoring the <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/theblaze\/status\/2082460090418815129?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Covid shots\u2019 risks<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/DschlopesIsBack\/status\/2082462130096201874?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">potential Covid treatments<\/a>; and more.<\/p>\n<div id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-4201326905\" class=\"d-flex justify-content-center fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2 fdrlst__b89e9-entity-placement\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1463670073398-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite refusing to respond to Republican senators\u2019 questions about the subject, the former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) director has been more than willing to give his two cents to America\u2019s corporate media and similar entities. According to his <a href=\"https:\/\/anthonyfaucimd.com\/media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">own website<\/a>, Fauci has given interviews and public remarks on at least 10 occasions since January, furthering a <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/07\/27\/if-you-thought-anthony-fauci-was-an-egomaniac-wait-until-you-read-his-covid-diary\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">recurring pattern<\/a> of the retired health official\u2019s documented obsession with his own self-promotion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Scientific American magazine published an <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.li\/9xbam#selection-411.41-411.115\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">article<\/a> based on a discussion with Fauci last month, in which the former Covid czar expressed his supposed concerns about the \u201cpoliticization of science.\u201d He also called for \u201cstronger pushback \u2026 against attempts to downgrade the government-sponsored biomedical research efforts.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fauci also sat down for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=1MWu-vVmMAo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">discussion<\/a> with an official from Stanford University\u2019s Department of Medicine. Published last month, the interview focused on the former NIAID director\u2019s \u201cearly career as a physician-scientist, the first years of the HIV\/AIDS epidemic, the creation of PEPFAR, the scientific foundation behind COVID-19 vaccines, and the challenge of communicating evidence in an era of misinformation,\u201d according to the interview summary. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So-called \u201cmisinformation\u201d was a topic of discussion Fauci <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.md\/kK4nS#selection-413.114-413.132\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mentioned<\/a> in a commencement address he gave to Macalester College graduates in May. Speaking about the rise of social media and AI, he reportedly said, \u201cNever has it been so easy for distortion, misinformation and outright falsehoods to spread with such speed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fauci additionally participated in a roughly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=4rK8KBJLG90\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hour-long podcast interview<\/a> published that same month. The episode\u2019s release came weeks after the former NIAID director partook in a Georgetown University <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=1WprIRcTkro\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">on-stage reading<\/a> of Sophocles\u2019 <em>Oedipus the King<\/em> alongside several celebrities and political figures. The event was billed as a \u201ccatalyst for powerful, constructive, global discussions about climate change, ecological disaster, ethical leadership, and environmental justice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A 2021 <a href=\"https:\/\/obamaoralhistory.columbia.edu\/interviews\/anthony-fauci\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">interview<\/a> Fauci gave for the Obama Presidency Oral History project was also released this month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wednesday\u2019s hearing comes days after committee Chair Rand Paul, R-Ky., released Fauci\u2019s diary entries.
