The Poynter Institute plans to honor Todd at a ticketed event,praising his analysis and interviews.Though, revelations from Fauci&#8217;s diary indicate that Todd advised Fauci on managing criticism from conservative media, including Fox News and Tucker Carlson, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Fauci acknowledged Todd&#8217;s guidance on whether to respond publicly to attacks, viewing him as a supportive figure. Todd\u2019s history includes promoting the Russia collusion hoax, misrepresenting political issues, and engaging in public embarrassments. He notably opposed investigating Hunter Biden\u2019s alleged corruption and refused to air Trump\u2019s comments on the Bidens. Even after leaving NBC, Todd continued to blame Fox News for declining trust in media, despite his own role in propagating certain narratives. Critics highlight his longstanding role in biased reporting and suggest his accolades overlook his connections to partisan and propagandistic coverage.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Former NBC <em>Meet the Press<\/em> moderator Chuck Todd is slated for an award celebrating \u201chis role as one of the country\u2019s leading independent voices covering politics, democracy and public affairs\u201d mere days after he was exposed maintaining a cozy relationship with Dr. Anthony Fauci.<\/p>\n<p>Poynter, a <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/02\/12\/factchecking-org-poynter-openly-wonders-why-we-dont-take-censorship-cues-from-xi-jinping\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fake fact-checking<\/a> institute known for <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/tag\/poynter-institute\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">training and elevating<\/a> corrupt corporate media, plans to honor the \u201cveteran political journalist\u201d with a ticketed salon event dedicated to celebrating <em>The Chuck ToddCast<\/em> host\u2019s \u201cdecadeslong impact on political journalism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChuck Todd has always been one of the smartest voices in American journalism, from his sharp political analysis and interviews during his years at NBC, to now, reporting on his own terms on independent platforms,\u201d Poynter President Neil Brown said in the <a href=\"https:\/\/mailchi.mp\/poynter\/savannah-guthrie-makes-an-emotional-plea-for-her-missing-mother?e=119db72473\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2026 Poynter Make a Mark Leadership Award<\/a> announcement. \u201cHe always gives the audience his best.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SenRandPaul\/status\/2081093786185171131?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fauci diary document dump<\/a> from Sen. Rand Paul, Todd\u2019s \u201cdecadeslong impact on political journalism\u201d apparently includes advising the former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director on how to navigate criticism from conservative media.<\/p>\n<p>Fauci admitted in his June 10, 2021 entry to seeking advice from Todd on \u201cwhether he thought that I should pull back from publicly defending myself against the slanderous attacks since that might call more attention to them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fauci further wrote that Todd not only \u201ccompletely agreed\u201d with that proposition, but also warned the NIAID director that Fox News and its then-top performer Tucker Carlson would \u201cuse anything I say as the theme for their next show.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cChuck is really an excellent journalist and although he must maintain his objectivity and reporting it is very clear that he is really being a friend in understanding the difficult position that I am in,\u201d Fauci concluded.<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Fauci claims Chuck Todd helped advise him on whether or not to respond to criticism from Fox News and Tucker Carlson <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Qlo5jrWOLp\">pic.twitter.com\/Qlo5jrWOLp<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Emily Jashinsky (@emilyjashinsky) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/emilyjashinsky\/status\/2081471003218047488?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 26, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Before that, in March 2020, Fauci <a href=\"https:\/\/www.paul.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/2026.07.24_Tonys-Diary-Package.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">named Todd<\/a> as one of several media panelists who expressed an interest in giving Fauci airtime because \u201che has a decades long history of giving the truth in a calming way to the public.\u201d From 2020 to 2022, Fauci appeared on Todd\u2019s NBC show at least 20 times.<\/p>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<p>Todd was not the only member of the propaganda press to receive a shoutout from Fauci. Yet, as The Federalist\u2019s Brianna Lyman <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/07\/27\/here-are-all-the-media-hacks-who-got-shoutouts-in-faucis-diary-for-giving-him-tongue-baths\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">noted<\/a>, Todd\u2019s Fauci-focused tongue bath \u201ctacitly show[ed] Todd and NBC News had no desire to get to the bottom of the Covid cover-up, or possible lab leak, or shutdowns pushed by Fauci that caused innumerable damages.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Todd\u2019s history as a corporate media propagandist is not <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/04\/09\/chuck-todd-is-wrong-again-there-are-huge-downsides-to-the-media-being-overly-alarmist\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">limited to his alarmism during the Covid years<\/a>. During his time on NBC\u2019s <em>Meet The Press<\/em>, Todd <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/01\/31\/the-12-worst-fails-of-media-propagandist-and-toilet-paper-bandit-chuck-todds-career\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">doubled down<\/a> on the Russia collusion hoax even after the Steele dossier was debunked, deceptively edited his show to lie about Trump-era Attorney General Bill Barr, and <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/05\/02\/the-kid-from-kindergarten-cop-knows-more-about-biology-than-chuck-todd\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pretended<\/a> someone has to be a scientist to know boys are boys and girls are girls. In addition to public embarrassments like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/online\/chuck-todd-inadvertently-tweets-crotch-photo-replies-come-pouring-in\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tweeting a crotch photo<\/a>, Todd also <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/01\/31\/the-12-worst-fails-of-media-propagandist-and-toilet-paper-bandit-chuck-todds-career\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dubbed<\/a> believing in God-given rights \u201cfundamentalist\u201d and had a meltdown when NBC sought to recruit former RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel as a Republican contributor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet me deal with the elephant in the room,\u201d Todd <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/nbcs-chuck-todd-explodes-network-bosses-air-hiring-ronna-mcdaniel-analyst-calls-apology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> on-air to his colleague Kristen Welker. \u201cI think our bosses owe you an apology for putting you in this situation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When Biden family corruption took center stage, Todd <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/01\/16\/heres-why-the-hunter-biden-corruption-story-is-worth-investigating-chuck-todd\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">argued<\/a> against investigating it and even <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/MeetThePress\/status\/1182773349044408324\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">refused<\/a> to air comments President Donald Trump made about the Biden family business.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are going further than we\u2019ve ever gone before to say, we aren\u2019t going to play the sound. We aren\u2019t going to repeat the president\u2019s vicious attacks on Hunter Biden. The president of the United States stood in front of a crowd of supporters and character-assassinated [Hunter],\u201d Todd said. \u201cWe can\u2019t in good conscience amplify those attacks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Even after he left his 18-year career at NBC, Todd <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/04\/27\/media-once-again-blame-trump-for-nearly-being-assassinated\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">blamed<\/a> Trump for almost being assassinated again.
