In 2022, Omar was charged with multiple sexual conduct crimes involving a 16-year-old girl, but these charges were mysteriously dropped in march 2025 &#8220;in the interest of justice,&#8221; despite evidence and identifying information linking Omar and another man to the assault. The victim, a teenage girl, reported being sexually assaulted over several days and suffered physical and emotional trauma. Omar was arrested in February 2022 and initially pleaded not guilty, claiming the charges were baseless and that he was unfairly punished after posting the racial slur video. He also raised over $40,000 through crowdfunding,asserting he was targeted. Attempts to contact the court for comment were unsuccessful, as official messages indicated unavailability. The article was authored by Libby Bandelin, a journalism graduate and intern at The Federalist.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Sharmake Beyle Omar, the Somali man behind the <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/EndWokeness\/status\/2080506369564717103\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/discover\/shiloh-hendrix-original\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">viral video<\/a> that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inforum.com\/news\/minnesota\/woman-in-viral-racial-slur-video-charged-with-disorderly-conduct\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.inforum.com\/news\/minnesota\/woman-in-viral-racial-slur-video-charged-with-disorderly-conduct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sent<\/a> Shiloh Hendrix to court, had charges of raping a 16-year-old girl dismissed by the Olmsted County District Court \u2014 the same district court that just ruled against Hendrix.<\/p>\n<p>District court judge Christa Daily ordered Hendrix to pay a fine and place her on strict probation, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/07\/24\/judge-in-shiloh-hendrix-case-repeatedly-let-sex-offenders-walk-without-jailtime\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/07\/24\/judge-in-shiloh-hendrix-case-repeatedly-let-sex-offenders-walk-without-jailtime\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">despite<\/a> letting off <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gop-slams-biden-admin-sweeping-immigration-reform\/\" title=\"GOP slams Biden admin. sweeping immigration reform\">convicted sex offenders<\/a> with no jail time.<\/p>\n<p>In 2022, Omar was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kaaltv.com\/news\/rochester-sexual-assault-case-dismissed\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.kaaltv.com\/news\/rochester-sexual-assault-case-dismissed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">charged<\/a> with \u201c3rd-degree criminal sexual conduct\u2013penetration of person under 18 years old,\u201d \u201cuse of coercion,\u201d and \u201c5th-degree criminal sexual conduct\u2013nonconsensual penetration,\u201d alongside Mohamed Hussein Omer. The two men were scheduled to stand trial when the allegations against them were mysteriously dropped by the Olmstead County Attorney\u2019s Office in March 2025, almost one month before Omar filmed the TikTok video of Hendrix that garnered 15 million views.<\/p>\n<p>The state\u2019s dismissal of complaint cited the reason for dropping the charges as being \u201cin the interest of justice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Omar and Omer were positively identified in a photo line-up by a teenage girl who reported to the Rochester Police Department that she was sexually assaulted by them \u201cover a period of multiple days.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the statement of probable cause from the Rochester Police Department, the 16-year-old victim ran away from her foster-care home in Farmington, MN on Jan. 19, 2022. That night she met Omer at a gas station who offered her a place to stay. Once she arrived at his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zillow.com\/homedetails\/3230-Marion-Rd-SE-TRAILER-15-Rochester-MN-55904\/120642804_zpid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">trailer home<\/a>, the teenager told RPD investigators that both Omer and Omar raped and sexually assaulted her, including forced oral sexual intercourse without her consent, and took her shoes so she couldn\u2019t run away.<\/p>\n<p>On Jan. 20, 2022, the juvenile escaped from the residence in a pair of oversized rain boots and ran to a gas station where she called a man who was a previous foster care parent to come pick her up. The man reported the assaults to the Rochester Police Department shortly after finding out about them from the juvenile and taking her to the Children\u2019s Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/iowa-teens-murder-solved-50-years-to-the-day-after-her-body-was-found\/\" title=\"Iowa Teen\u2019s Murder Solved 50 Years To The Day After Her Body Was Found\">sexual assault examination<\/a>.\u00a0She was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kimt.com\/news\/charges-dropped-against-rochester-men-accused-of-sexually-abusing-a-teen-victim\/article_461bf354-a3ff-11ed-bedb-d329b9d4dcb6.html\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.kimt.com\/news\/charges-dropped-against-rochester-men-accused-of-sexually-abusing-a-teen-victim\/article_461bf354-a3ff-11ed-bedb-d329b9d4dcb6.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">found<\/a> to have sustained dehydration, sleep deprivation, lack of food, foot pain, and sexual trauma.<\/p>\n<p>Omar was <a href=\"https:\/\/minnesota.arrests.org\/Arrests\/Sharmake_Omar_51789316\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/minnesota.arrests.org\/Arrests\/Sharmake_Omar_51789316\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">arrested<\/a> in February 2022 and first appeared in court in August 2022 where he pled not guilty.<\/p>\n<p>Omar called the charges \u201cbaseless\u201d when asked about them in <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20250704010838\/https:\/\/www.inforum.com\/news\/minnesota\/im-being-punished-severely-says-rochester-man-who-posted-racial-slur-incident\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20250704010838\/https:\/\/www.inforum.com\/news\/minnesota\/im-being-punished-severely-says-rochester-man-who-posted-racial-slur-incident\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">an interview<\/a> about the \u201cracial slur incident\u201d he recorded. <\/p>\n<p>Omar said in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/shorts\/PpZXsjLuphM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a video response<\/a>, \u201cit has been proven that I had never done anything wrong and the case was dismissed\u201d about the charges.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, he claimed he was being \u201cpunished severely\u201d after filming the video.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not looking for fame,\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20250704010838\/https:\/\/www.inforum.com\/news\/minnesota\/im-being-punished-severely-says-rochester-man-who-posted-racial-slur-incident\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20250704010838\/https:\/\/www.inforum.com\/news\/minnesota\/im-being-punished-severely-says-rochester-man-who-posted-racial-slur-incident\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a>. \u201cI just did it because I was trying to help this kid. I didn\u2019t want to make any money off of that video at all. I just wanted the world to see.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Omar claimed he made \u201cless than a dollar\u201d off of the ordeal. He started a crowd funding campaign, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spotfund.com\/story\/53d31012-e54a-4269-be7d-0b6f9c628747\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.spotfund.com\/story\/53d31012-e54a-4269-be7d-0b6f9c628747\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">raised<\/a> over $40,000 because he felt he and his family were \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@dahab.soomaale\/video\/7501141000606321950\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@dahab.soomaale\/video\/7501141000606321950\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">relentlessly targeted<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Federalist attempted to reach the Olmstead County District Court for comment. After being on hold for 20 minutes because \u201call agents were busy,\u201d and directed to leave a voice message with the criminal affairs office where the \u201cmailbox was full,\u201d The Federalist was then transferred to another department where the call was dropped.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>      Libby Bandelin is a reporting and editing intern at The Federalist with the Intercollegiate Studies Institute.
