The tapes, consisting of audio recordings and interview transcripts from his work on the 2017 memoir &#8220;Promise me, Dad,&#8221; had been the subject of legal disputes, with Biden arguing they contained private details that should be protected. The court concluded that Biden had not demonstrated a need to withhold the materials, which could be released soon. The former president has argued they contain personal information that should be protected as private information. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cEvery American, including a sitting or former Vice President, has a right to privacy in the personal conversations he has within his own home,\u201d Biden\u2019s lawyers wrote. \u201cAnd when the U.S. Department of Justice obtains that private information through a criminal investigation, the Department bears a particular responsibility to protect it from disclosure.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Heritage Foundation sued for the records to be released to the public, due to findings from special counsel Robert Hur in 2024 that Biden spilled classified information in the audio and transcripts. Hur said that multiple times, \u201cMr. Biden read classified notes from national security meetings to Zwonitzer nearly verbatim,\u201d as he wrote his memoir with ghostwriter Mark Zwonitzer. <\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-2\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap wex-ad-art-dsk-inart-2\" style=\"min-height:90px\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" hidden>Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-16\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-2\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hur obtained the materials as part of his investigation into whether Biden leaked classified information.
