The RCP average on Thursday afternoon had her at 27.9 percent to California <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/revealed-fbi-mole-newsom-camp-recording-gathering-info-corruption-dirty-dealings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gov. Gavin Newsom\u2019s<\/a> 16.6 percent, former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg\u2019s 11.3 percent, and New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez\u2019s 8.8 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Granted, some vested interests don\u2019t like those numbers. Some are at betting sites. <a href=\"https:\/\/kalshi.com\/markets\/kxpresnomd\/democratic-primary-winner\/kxpresnomd-28\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kalshi<\/a>, for instance, had Newsom as the favorite and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/icymi-cnn-says-jon-ossoffs-2028-presidential-chances-better-josh-shapiros-doesnt-read-jewish\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff<\/a> of Georgia (currently a very distant No. 11 in the RCP average) as the next-most-likely candidate as of Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>And some are Democrats who just remember what Kamala Harris was like as a candidate or vice president. One of them is former Biden administration aide Michael LaRosa, who told Fox News that Democrats \u201care not going to give Kamala Harris a third at-bat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>First, <a href=\"https:\/\/nymag.com\/intelligencer\/article\/like-it-or-not-kamala-harris-is-the-democratic-front-runner.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Magazine\u2019s<\/a> David Freedlander, who insists that despite the fact she\u2019s \u201ccontent to just wait \u2026 Kamala Harris is very much looking like a presidential contender\u2013in\u2013waiting.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>It remains an article of faith among Harris\u2019s tight-knit group of advisers that the 2024 race wasn\u2019t winnable. Her polling lead was a mirage and did not square with what the campaign\u2019s internal polls were showing. The compressed timeline after Biden dropped out of the race left her without enough time to appear as her own person, a particularly big problem when much of the public had tired of the president. And multiple former campaign staffers brought up the two assassination attempts against Trump as evidence that Harris\u2019s loss was all but preordained. \u2026 <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cShe is looking for where the wave is going and is determined to ride it,\u201d said one supporter who had recently spoken with her and came away convinced that Harris is running in 2028. \u201cHer mindset is that I should have won, and I am going to do it my way because my way would have won, and it was all these consultants that were telling me to take this position or that position, and it was their fault.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Ah, it\u2019s the consultants this time! I thought it was racism, or misogyny, or misogyracism, or <a href=\"https:\/\/history-uncovered.com\/articles\/the-disappearance-of-judge-crater-the-vanishing-that-stunned-america\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Judge Crater<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/allthatsinteresting.com\/history-uncovered\/jimmy-hoffa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jimmy Hoffa<\/a> teaming up to sink her campaign. Something like that. But no, now it\u2019s the <em>consultants<\/em>! (It\u2019s worth noting that none of the consultants could be reached for comment, probably because they\u2019re still in witness protection after what Kamala\u2019s campaign did to <em>their<\/em> careers.)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cArticle of faith\u201d is probably the right phrase to use here about the Harris camp\u2019s hopes \u2014 since past performance is the best indicator of future performance unless something has fundamentally changed, and there\u2019s no evidence whatsoever to suggest that.<\/p>\n<p>Reports have stated that Harris is trying to make inroads with the ascendant radical class within the party \u2014 meeting with New York City <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/kamala-harris-privately-consulting-zohran-mamdani-radical-leftists-maneuvers-2028-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mayor Zohran Mamdani<\/a> and other anti-Israel, pro-Palestinian Democrats \u2014 but that still doesn\u2019t eliminate the fact that Kamala Harris remains very much the Kamala Harris she\u2019s always been.<\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/politics\/articles\/ex-biden-aide-dumps-cold-204755534.html?fr=sycsrp_catchall\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mediaite<\/a> and other news sources noted, LaRosa \u2014 best known as former first lady <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/gotcha-people-just-noticed-something-fishy-jill-bidens-book-sales-hunter-proud-scheming\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jill Biden\u2019s<\/a> former press secretary \u2014 pointed out somewhat that what Harris has been hasn\u2019t been good enough.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe follows. She doesn\u2019t take risks. She calculates,\u201d LaRosa said Tuesday on \u201cAmerica Reports,\u201d according to <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/campaign\/5983446-larosa-doubts-harris-2028-chances\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Hill<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe doesn\u2019t answer questions, she equivocates. She\u2019s got to get over that if she wants to make a connection with people, but I don\u2019t think she\u2019s going to get a third at-bat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also made it clear that he doesn\u2019t think she should.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want somebody who can run the country. I want somebody who is competent. I love Rahm Emanuel, Gavin Newsom. I like Pete Buttigieg,\u201d LaRosa, now a communications strategist, said.<\/p>\n<p>If the key to a Harris campaign is making a \u201cconnection\u201d with voters, LaRosa has a point that she\u2019s not going to get to first base. We\u2019re supposed to believe that, if you give her eight years, she\u2019s really going to find her stride?<\/p>\n<p>She ran for the presidency in 2020 only to drop out before a single primary ballot was cast. Thanks to the <em>deus ex machina<\/em> of the Summer of Floyd\u2122, Democrats demanded a black female veep for Joe Biden. The other candidates in consideration were former national security advisor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/susan-rice-conducts-smokey-new-age-smudging-ritual-heart-white-house-expel-trumps-energy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Susan Rice<\/a>, who was too tainted by her role in the Obama administration\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/key-obama-benghazi-cover-figure-now-hoping-job-potential-biden-wh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Benghazi cover-up<\/a>, and then-U.S. Rep. Karen Bass, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/another-massive-la-fire-another-missing-karen-bass\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">who would go on<\/a> to show as Los Angeles mayor that she would have been a profoundly poor choice as well.<\/p>\n<p>But when even Democrats had to admit Joe Biden was toast as a candidate in 2024 after his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-jill-bidens-staggering-admission-thought-joe-stroke-trump-debate-didnt-get-help\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">epic debate debacle<\/a>, that epiphany came too late in the process for anyone <em>but <\/em>Kamala Harris to get in the game. Like it or not, Democrats were stuck with her. And it turned out that the answer was \u201cnot.\u201d She was just as bad atop the ticket as she was beneath Biden\u2019s name.<\/p>\n<p>Now, we\u2019re again told that \u201clike it or not,\u201d she\u2019s the front-runner for the 2028 nomination.
