Together, these drugs chemically alter the hormones in a woman\u2019s body to end the life of her unborn child and expel it.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritage.org\/life\/report\/chemical-abortion-review\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.heritage.org\/life\/report\/chemical-abortion-review\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">federal policies<\/a> under Presidents Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden, chemical abortion pills came to the U.S. market and became readily accepted and deregulated. During lockdowns, the Biden Administration <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/www.justice.gov\/olc\/opinion\/file\/1560596\/dl?inline=__;!!PxibshUo2Yr_Ta5B!xeulaQ-MwAQ46KEydhgDpNDhNAId8I4qQK7A4rgrNoe3XikjScKpz_3-CQ5pFLTAxTGLdSed0oPmI-3e_Jdp$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">gave a de facto permit<\/a> for abortion water pollution by allowing at-home pill distribution, without testing or oversight.<\/p>\n<p>Pill pushers loved it. <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/www.heritage.org\/life\/commentary\/abortion-pills-coercion-and-abuse__;!!PxibshUo2Yr_Ta5B!xeulaQ-MwAQ46KEydhgDpNDhNAId8I4qQK7A4rgrNoe3XikjScKpz_3-CQ5pFLTAxTGLdSed0oPmIx1F5MVA$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">What a win for abusers, too<\/a>, who have used the deadly drugs against mothers without their knowledge or consent.<\/p>\n<p>If you believe the abortion industry\u2019s data from the Guttmacher Institute, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.guttmacher.org\/fact-sheet\/induced-abortion-united-states\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">more than 6 in 10 U.S. abortions<\/a> are committed via chemical abortion pills. Using that weak data (because we don\u2019t have a <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/www.pewresearch.org\/short-reads\/2026\/06\/17\/what-the-data-says-about-abortion-in-the-us\/*how-many-abortions-are-there-in-the-u-s-each-year__;Iw!!PxibshUo2Yr_Ta5B!xeulaQ-MwAQ46KEydhgDpNDhNAId8I4qQK7A4rgrNoe3XikjScKpz_3-CQ5pFLTAxTGLdSed0oPmIweZNFy2$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">National Abortion Reporting Law<\/a>), suggests <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/studentsforlife.org\/2025\/07\/23\/breaking-new-report-from-students-for-life-notes-more-than-50-tons-of-human-tissue-remains-dumped-each-year-as-a-result-of-abortion-water-pollution\/__;!!PxibshUo2Yr_Ta5B!xeulaQ-MwAQ46KEydhgDpNDhNAId8I4qQK7A4rgrNoe3XikjScKpz_3-CQ5pFLTAxTGLdSed0oPmIyi_WMBK$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">more than 50 tons<\/a> of chemically tainted blood and placenta tissue goes into our waterways every year. Abortion pill use is much higher in countries with a real reporting requirement, so this number is likely to be even higher.<\/p>\n<p>It is unlawful for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/opinion\/forget-gas-stoves-big-polluter-bidens-backyard\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hospital and outpatient medical facilities<\/a> to dump pathological medical waste into waterways, yet this is exactly what women using abortion pills end up doing. As the <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/www.aafp.org\/about\/policies\/all\/medical-waste.html__;!!PxibshUo2Yr_Ta5B!xeulaQ-MwAQ46KEydhgDpNDhNAId8I4qQK7A4rgrNoe3XikjScKpz_3-CQ5pFLTAxTGLdSed0oPmI3V5P8V4$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">American Academy of Family Physicians observes,<\/a> \u201cHome-based health care can create medical waste which can be hazardous if not disposed of properly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So why shouldn\u2019t the EPA check if we are being microdosed with an endocrine blockers, especially as so many people struggle with infertility \u2014 about 14 percent in the United States and <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/www.who.int\/news\/item\/04-04-2023-1-in-6-people-globally-affected-by-infertility__;!!PxibshUo2Yr_Ta5B!xeulaQ-MwAQ46KEydhgDpNDhNAId8I4qQK7A4rgrNoe3XikjScKpz_3-CQ5pFLTAxTGLdSed0oPmI5XeUgoQ$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1 in 6 worldwide<\/a>, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/www.cdc.gov\/nchs\/data\/nhsr\/nhsr202.pdf__;!!PxibshUo2Yr_Ta5B!xeulaQ-MwAQ46KEydhgDpNDhNAId8I4qQK7A4rgrNoe3XikjScKpz_3-CQ5pFLTAxTGLdSed0oPmI375JyhL$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the Centers for Disease Control<\/a> and World Health Organization?<\/p>\n<p>Progesterone not only <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/www.myfertilitycenter.com\/progesterone-and-pregnancy\/__;!!PxibshUo2Yr_Ta5B!xeulaQ-MwAQ46KEydhgDpNDhNAId8I4qQK7A4rgrNoe3XikjScKpz_3-CQ5pFLTAxTGLdSed0oPmI7CBYcal$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">supports a baby in a healthy pregnancy,<\/a> but is a crucial hormone men and women need. For men, it helps build testosterone, maintains cardiovascular health, sustains energy and a sex drive, and helps manage cortisol (a stress hormone). For women, <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >ingesting progesterone-blocking chemicals<\/a> can open a Pandora\u2019s box of health issues that can harm fertility.<\/p>\n<p>In the past month, <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/studentsforlife.org\/2026\/06\/10\/students-for-life-applauds-14-state-attorneys-general-calling-on-the-epa-to-track-abortion-water-pollution-you-dont-have-to-be-pro-life-to-want-clean-drinking-water\/__;!!PxibshUo2Yr_Ta5B!xeulaQ-MwAQ46KEydhgDpNDhNAId8I4qQK7A4rgrNoe3XikjScKpz_3-CQ5pFLTAxTGLdSed0oPmI2OFoqT8$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">14 state attorneys general<\/a> asked the EPA to track mifepristone, as did <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/studentsforlife.org\/2026\/06\/12\/19-members-of-congress-call-on-epa-to-track-abortion-pills-in-the-water-momentum-is-on-the-side-of-life\/__;!!PxibshUo2Yr_Ta5B!xeulaQ-MwAQ46KEydhgDpNDhNAId8I4qQK7A4rgrNoe3XikjScKpz_3-CQ5pFLTAxTGLdSed0oPmI_cBuuqB$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">19 members of Congress<\/a>. Through Students for Life of America\u2019s (SFLA) efforts, several thousand people across America also demanded this forever chemical be monitored. In the last few years, more than <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/www.studentsforlifeaction.org\/forty-pro-life-leader-counting-call-on-congress-to-demand-the-epa-track-the-forever-chemicals-in-chemical-abortion-pills\/__;!!PxibshUo2Yr_Ta5B!xeulaQ-MwAQ46KEydhgDpNDhNAId8I4qQK7A4rgrNoe3XikjScKpz_3-CQ5pFLTAxTGLdSed0oPmI4aoCVPd$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">40 pro-family groups called for the EPA to<\/a> track mifepristone and sent two <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/www.studentsforlifeaction.org\/rep-brecheen-sen-lankford-lead-a-bicameral-letter-to-the-environmental-protection-agency-calling-for-evaluation-of-dangerous-abortion-water-pollution\/__;!!PxibshUo2Yr_Ta5B!xeulaQ-MwAQ46KEydhgDpNDhNAId8I4qQK7A4rgrNoe3XikjScKpz_3-CQ5pFLTAxTGLdSed0oPmIy5VeAHi$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bicameral letters to the EPA,<\/a> including <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/www.studentsforlifeaction.org\/students-for-life-action-applauds-gop-leaders-sen-rubio-and-rep-brecheen-for-fighting-against-abortion-water-pollution\/__;!!PxibshUo2Yr_Ta5B!xeulaQ-MwAQ46KEydhgDpNDhNAId8I4qQK7A4rgrNoe3XikjScKpz_3-CQ5pFLTAxTGLdSed0oPmIwviCyL0$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">one headed by current Secretary of State Marco Rubio.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Added to these voices are other professional organizations concerned with <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/studentsforlife.org\/2026\/06\/19\/doctors-environmentalists-back-sfla-demand-epa-track-chemical-abortion-pill-in-our-water\/__;!!PxibshUo2Yr_Ta5B!xeulaQ-MwAQ46KEydhgDpNDhNAId8I4qQK7A4rgrNoe3XikjScKpz_3-CQ5pFLTAxTGLdSed0oPmIzw1JjGJ$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">women\u2019s health and the environment<\/a>, such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/aaplog.org\/__;!!PxibshUo2Yr_Ta5B!xeulaQ-MwAQ46KEydhgDpNDhNAId8I4qQK7A4rgrNoe3XikjScKpz_3-CQ5pFLTAxTGLdSed0oPmIwk9n92_$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists<\/a> (AAPLOG) and the <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/acc.eco\/__;!!PxibshUo2Yr_Ta5B!xeulaQ-MwAQ46KEydhgDpNDhNAId8I4qQK7A4rgrNoe3XikjScKpz_3-CQ5pFLTAxTGLdSed0oPmI-CQsYsK$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">American Conservation Coalition<\/a> (ACC), which weighed in with medical and environmental concerns.<\/p>\n<p>When I testified this week before the EPA\u2019s committee looking at whether to track mifepristone, my concerns presented include \u00a0the potential harm to endangered species. <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/studentsforlife.org\/2026\/05\/07\/every-state-should-want-clean-water-if-not-for-us-for-our-nations-endangered-species\/__;!!PxibshUo2Yr_Ta5B!xeulaQ-MwAQ46KEydhgDpNDhNAId8I4qQK7A4rgrNoe3XikjScKpz_3-CQ5pFLTAxTGLdSed0oPmI3WdvujJ$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">More than 1,500<\/a> already at-risk animal species can be exposed to and possibly harmed by these endocrine blockers in the water supply. SFLA notes this effect in our citizen petitions to the FDA and in a number of <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/studentsforlife.org\/2026\/06\/26\/students-for-life-again-stands-with-louisiana-in-case-against-the-food-drug-administration-still-dropping-the-ball-in-protecting-human-beings-endangered-species-from-deadly-chemical-abort\/__;!!PxibshUo2Yr_Ta5B!xeulaQ-MwAQ46KEydhgDpNDhNAId8I4qQK7A4rgrNoe3XikjScKpz_3-CQ5pFLTAxTGLdSed0oPmI2H7QOwV$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">amicus briefs in court cases<\/a> looking at the deadly harms of the abortion drugs.<\/p>\n<p>This \u201cmedication\u201d absolutely is primarily an abortion drug. The only other approved use is for a rare disease, Cushing Syndrome, which rarely is treated with a version of mifepristone. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scribd.com\/document\/1064616060\/Cushing-White-PaperPDF-GU-2026-01-29\">reporting<\/a> from\u2009Kaiser, a version of mifepristone under the brand name Korlym \u201ctreats about 1,000 patients in the U.S.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>If you compare this to the <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/www.guttmacher.org\/2024\/03\/medication-abortion-accounted-63-all-us-abortions-2023-increase-53-2020__;!!PxibshUo2Yr_Ta5B!xeulaQ-MwAQ46KEydhgDpNDhNAId8I4qQK7A4rgrNoe3XikjScKpz_3-CQ5pFLTAxTGLdSed0oPmI6VmB1ek$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">642,700<\/a> chemical abortions taking place each year, it\u2019s clear that water chemical testing checks the impact of a purely federal policy \u2014 at-home use of chemical abortion pills.<\/p>\n<p>The abortion lobby, desperate to conflate miscarriage and abortion for their messaging, pushes to use mifepristone for <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/little-known-abortion-pill-maker-faces-scrutiny-11656939602__;!!PxibshUo2Yr_Ta5B!xeulaQ-MwAQ46KEydhgDpNDhNAId8I4qQK7A4rgrNoe3XikjScKpz_3-CQ5pFLTAxTGLdSed0oPmI7VvTI0M$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">miscarriage treatment<\/a>, even though <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/jamanetwork.com\/journals\/jama\/fullarticle\/2807775*google_vignette__;Iw!!PxibshUo2Yr_Ta5B!xeulaQ-MwAQ46KEydhgDpNDhNAId8I4qQK7A4rgrNoe3XikjScKpz_3-CQ5pFLTAxTGLdSed0oPmI03mVfhJ$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">less than 1 percent of physicians<\/a> reportedly use it that way, because \u00a0its purpose is to disrupt pregnancy. SFLA has <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/thisischemicalabortion.com\/citizenspetition\/__;!!PxibshUo2Yr_Ta5B!xeulaQ-MwAQ46KEydhgDpNDhNAId8I4qQK7A4rgrNoe3XikjScKpz_3-CQ5pFLTAxTGLdSed0oPmI2TcuI4N$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">two citizen petitions to the FDA<\/a> fighting that relabeling occurring without environmental studies.<\/p>\n<p>The EPA owes it to U.S. states to detail the extent of abortion water pollution, as a federal policy has spilled into the waterways of the nation, potentially damaging human, animal, aquatic, and environmental health. You don\u2019t have to be pro-life to want crystal-clear drinking water. Since the federal government, without 60 votes in the U.S. Senate, \u00a0created and then deregulated a national market for a deadly drug, we deserve to know what we are drinking.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>      Kristi S.
