Newark Gov. Mikie Sherrill criticized Donald Trump for spreading false claims about election fraud while acknowledging that 6,600 noncitizens appeared on teh voter rolls between 2023 and 2024,with about 400 casting ballots.She blamed system errors and insisted on investigating the glitch, which she attributed to a vendor. Critics, including Republicans, accuse Democratic policies-such as automatic voter registration for licensed drivers and issuing driver&#8217;s licenses to illegal aliens-of facilitating voter registration irregularities and risking election security. Several officials and watchdogs warn that thousands of noncitizens may be involved, with some evidence of votes cast by noncitizens. Despite thes issues, some Democrats dismissed concerns as fear-mongering, and the state\u2019s refusal to share voter roll data with federal authorities complicates efforts to verify the extent of noncitizen participation. The incident underscores calls for stricter voting safeguards, such as the proposed SAVE America Act, which would require proof of citizenship and photo ID for voting. Anytime a Democrat begins a sentence with, \u201cLet me be clear,\u201d that Democrat is  mostly likely about to lie to you. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet me be clear: Donald Trump has zero credibility on the issue of election integrity,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nj.gov\/governor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill <\/a>said Tuesday during a press conference in which the faux moderate had to confess that some <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/07\/21\/6600-noncitizens-found-on-new-jersey-voter-rolls-as-democrats-fight-against-voter-id\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">6,600 noncitizens <\/a>landed on the Garden State\u2019s voter rolls in 2023 and 2024 \u2014 and about 400 went on to vote. <\/p>\n<p>That level of cognitive dissonance is astounding even for a deep blue state governor. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am appalled by the reckless failures that allowed this to happen and the lack of transparency shown by those in charge at the time,\u201d Sherrill, just six months into her first term, said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insidernj.com\/sherrill-i-am-ensuring-we-protect-our-elections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">statement<\/a>. So who\u2019s really to blame? Mikie says it\u2019s President Donald Trump, whom she insists has spent the past decade crying wolf and peddling \u201cbizarre conspiracy theories about fraud with no evidence,\u201d <\/p>\n<p>New Jersey\u2019s registration \u201cglitch\u201d is just the latest in a growing record of noncitizens doing what Democrats and their accomplice media friends say rarely happens: registering and voting in U.S. elections. They hammered Trump for delivering Thursday\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/07\/17\/trumps-declassified-docs-detail-massive-michigan-voter-registration-fraud\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">nationwide address<\/a> on election integrity, which ABC and NBC wouldn\u2019t deign to air. The president warned of vulnerabilities in the U.S. election system and released <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/releases\/2026\/07\/setting-the-record-straight-president-trump-declassifies-intel-on-foreign-election-interference-deep-state-coverup\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">declassified <\/a>intelligence community documents to prove it. <\/p>\n<p>No Harry Truman, Sherrill blamed system software for the \u201cerror\u201d and pledged an investigation into the alarming failure. She said she\u2019s also canning the vendor involved. <\/p>\n<h2>\u2018A Catastrophic Government Failure\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Local election officials and <a href=\"https:\/\/publicinterestlegal.org\/issues\/voter-roll-error-map\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">watchdogs <\/a>have for years warned the Democrats who control New Jersey government that lax voting laws would lead to noncitizens popping up on the voter rolls. Still, the Associated Press carried water for a fellow Democrat traveler trying to hold on to a rapidly collapsing narrative. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe revelation comes as President Donald Trump and other Republicans continue to assert that voting by noncitizens is rampant in U.S. elections, even though <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/noncitizens-voting-republicans-election-2024-immigration-09b86e6768f755fd875f3c51b0e8ea70\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">it\u2019s rare<\/a> and, when caught, can be punished as a felony that can lead to deportation,\u201d useful idiot Geoff Mulvhill <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/noncitizen-voter-registration-new-jersey-99ef57346bbe09ba2ff606538a76eede\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote <\/a>in his coverage of the scandal. <\/p>\n<p>When caught? Such crimes are rarely caught due to lack of interest by many election and law enforcement officers on the front and back ends of the system. Democrat policymakers have bent over backwards to be \u201cinclusive\u201d and \u201cequitable\u201d in voter rights legislation, at the expense of election security. <\/p>\n<p>Former two-term Gov. Phil Murphy in 2018 signed into law a measure that automatically registers New Jerseyans to vote when they apply for an ID or a driver\u2019s license. A year later, the Democrat signed into law a bill allowing illegal aliens to obtain a driver\u2019s license. What could possibly go wrong?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have been warning Trenton Democrats since this was signed into law in 2019 that New Jersey needed stronger safeguards to protect the integrity of our elections,\u201d state Sen. Kristin Corrado, a Republican ranking member of the Judiciary Committee and former county clerk, said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.senatenj.com\/m\/newsflash\/home\/detail\/1243\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">statement.<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>Corrado said she sent six separate letters raising her concerns and introduced legislation \u201cthat would have provided a commonsense safeguard by preventing the MVC [Motor Vehicle Commission] from prompting non-citizens to register to vote.\u201d Majority Democrats weren\u2019t interested and ignored the warnings, the lawmaker said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow we are learning that a catastrophic government failure allowed thousands of non-citizens to be registered to vote, and suddenly everyone is acting surprised,\u201d Corrado. <\/p>\n<h2>\u2018A Tap Dance\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Sherrill threw Murphy under the bus, noting that the thousands of ineligible registrations and hundreds of noncitizen votes cast happened on Murphy\u2019s watch. She wants everyone to know that as soon as she learned about the \u201cglitch\u201d she \u201cimmediately\u201d ordered her chief legal counsel to open a probe into the matter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI also ordered the removal of any residents from our voter rolls who were erroneously added between June 2023 and June 2024,\u201d the governor said in the press release. <\/p>\n<p>What about 2025 and 2026? Do we know how many noncitizens are in the state\u2019s voter database? How many of those individuals illegally voted in New Jersey elections, including her election in November? That\u2019s not clear. <\/p>\n<p>The New Jersey Republican Party warned months ago that their Election Integrity Task Force had uncovered hundreds of noncitizens on the state\u2019s voter rolls, and the initial findings were \u201cjust the tip of the iceberg.\u201d In May, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/4-women-killed-in-multicar-crash-on-pacific-coast-highway-in-malibu-police-say\/\" title=\"4 women died in a multicar crash on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, according to police.\">task force announced<\/a> that it had documented at least 30 cases of noncitizens voting in elections. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat announcement was dismissed by State Democrats as \u2018fear-mongering,\u2019 but recent findings now show that not only have thousands of non-citizens been added to our voter rolls, but approximately 400 non-citizens voted in our elections,\u201d New Jersey GOP Chairwoman Christine Hanlon said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.njgop.org\/category\/news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">statement <\/a>released Monday. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe knew better then, and we know better now,\u201d Hanlon added. \u201cUnfortunately, the governor chose to deflect blame for the state\u2019s failings to President Trump rather than focusing on the issue at hand.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Joe Labarbera, chairman of the Sussex County (N.J.) Republican Committee, believes the governor is angling to stave off a Department of Justice investigation. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the army we call that a tap dance. She spoke out of both sides of her mouth,\u201d\u00a0 Labarbera told The Federalist in a phone interview Monday evening. <\/p>\n<p>The local GOP committee chairman said he wasn\u2019t surprised by the revelations. He thinks the real number of noncitizens on the voting rolls is many times more than what is being reported. <\/p>\n<p>New Jersey has refused to turn over its voter rolls to federal Homeland Security officials for cross-checking \u201cfor improper registrations,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/justice-department-sues-five-additional-states-failure-produce-voter-rolls\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">one<\/a> of more than 20 states the DOJ has sued.<\/p>\n<h2>\u2018Not Random Errors\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>The White House on Tuesday noted what Sherrill would not: that \u201cevery illegal ballot dilutes the voice of a lawful American citizen and undermines election integrity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese incidents are not random errors; they are the predictable result of Democrat policies that refuse to verify citizenship,\u201d the White House said in a statement. <\/p>\n<p>New Jersey is now Exhibit A for why the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/07\/20\/meet-election-attack-bombshell-with-the-save-act-or-there-wont-be-a-republic-left-to-save\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SAVE America Act<\/a> is so critical to election integrity. The legislation would require documentary proof of citizenship to register to vote in federal elections and photo ID to cast a ballot. Democrats have blocked the bill from advancing in the Senate, and Senate Republican leaders have apparently <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/07\/21\/worse-than-a-democrat-lisa-murkowski-cant-bring-herself-to-save-america\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">conceded defeat<\/a> without much of a fight.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe American people demand secure elections. Congress must pass the SAVE America Act without delay,\u201d the White House said in the statement.  <\/p>\n<p>To be clear, the Democrat governor said she believes \u201cthe integrity of our elections\u00a0is fundamental to our democracy.\u201d She also said she doesn\u2019t think handing out driver\u2019s licenses to illegal immigrants is a threat to election integrity.\u00a0Sherrill\u2019s integrity is understandably being called into question. <\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>      Matt Kittle is a senior elections correspondent for The Federalist.
