The complaint alleges that these programs discriminate against white and other non-Native students by exclusively providing scholarships to Native American nursing students to increase their portrayal, wich the advocacy group Do No Harm considers unlawful. The scholarship covers tuition, books, and living expenses and intends to support Native American students pursuing nursing degrees and serving in Indian health facilities after graduation. The schools did not respond to requests for comment, and federal agencies declined to comment on ongoing litigation.Do No Harm urges investigations into the discrimination and considers legal action, asserting that favoritism based solely on race is unjust and undermines meritocracy. The program has received over $790,000 from the Department of Health and Human Services as 2024. NSU <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/aUChe\">previously said<\/a> in an undated statement announcing the funds that \u201cover 70 percent of the award\u201d would go to Native American students. The Department of Education referred the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> to the Department of Health and Human Services. The HHS\u2019s Indian Health Service, which funds the program, declined to comment \u201con ongoing litigation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNSU and NEO are excluding qualified individuals from rich learning opportunities based solely on race, regardless of their academic ability, skills, experiences, and perspectives and even if they commit to serving in Indian health facilities,\u201d Do No Harm chief medical officer Kurt Miceli told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em>. \u201cFavoring one race over all others is not only unlawful and unjust but also discredits the value of hard work and meritocratic achievement that is critical to our healthcare-education system.
