The incident occurred on Sunday evening, with two women pulled from the river and later pronounced dead, and the bodies of three men recovered the following day after search efforts. Delaware County Sheriff Jeff Balzer stated that the group, which included possibly two sets of parents, children under ten, and another adult, had gathered to enjoy a summer evening when one person entered the water and struggled.
