href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"4\">Donald Trump\u2019s<\/a> influence over the Republican Party.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During that interview, Maher pressed Vance on Republicans\u2019 continued reluctance to acknowledge former President <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/joe-biden\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"471\">Joe Biden\u2019s<\/a> 2020 victory, calling acceptance of election results one of his biggest concerns with the GOP.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBut it is a problem if you have an <a Cornyn Joins Deep State, Labels Conservatives as Terrorists\">entire political movement<\/a> that doesn\u2019t recognize the legitimacy of elections, of course, and my big issue from the beginning,\u201d Maher said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-2\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap wex-ad-art-dsk-inart-2\" style=\"min-height:90px\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" hidden>Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-16\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-2\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite those disagreements, Maher referred to his interview with Vance favorably, referring to it as \u201ca good time.\u201d He argued Americans should be more willing to engage with people they disagree with politically.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cEverybody\u2019s a monster until you talk to them,\u201d Maher said. \u201cYou can disagree with them a lot, but we had a good time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For decades, Maher has been one of the country\u2019s most recognizable liberal voices, frequently criticizing <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/republicans\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"240\">Republicans<\/a> and, in particular, Trump.
