But those same Democrats vigorously supported Barack Obama\u2019s hyper-partisan fixer, Eric Holder.<\/p>\n<p>Holder is infamous for being known as Obama\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/blogs\/politico44\/2013\/04\/eric-holder-im-still-the-presidents-wingman-160861\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wingman<\/a>,\u201d doing Obama\u2019s personal bidding, conducting lawfare against conservatives, dropping the prosecutions of political allies (especially if they were black), and arming Mexican drug cartels to wage war on Americans.<\/p>\n<p>Every step of the way, Democrats defended him and denied his partisan hackery. But when it comes to Blanche, who has not shown the same instinct over his short tenure in the acting position, the same people are crying foul.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., <a href=\"https:\/\/fox49.tv\/news\/nation-world\/fixer-bagman-hired-gun-chuck-schumer-lets-loose-on-president-trumps-attorney-general-pick-nominee-todd-blanche\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a>, \u201c\u2018Attorney General\u2019 might appear on Blanche\u2019s business card, but we all know the job description would stay the same: Trump\u2019s fixer, bagman, hired gun.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yet even after Holder\u2019s rocky and controversial tenure, Schumer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/archives\/opa\/pr\/statements-departure-attorney-general-eric-holder\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">maintained<\/a>, \u201cAG Holder was like \u2018Horatius at the Bridge\u2019 preventing or slowing down the regressive march to take away people\u2019s hard-earned rights.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><strong>\u2018My People\u2019 Can\u2019t Be Guilty of  Voter Intimidation<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>One of the first things Holder did upon taking office was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/us-commission-on-civil-rights-releases-interim-report-on-new-black-panther-party-voter-intimidation-litigation-111294804.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">drop a 2008 presidential election voter intimidation case<\/a> against members of the New Black Panther Party who stood in the entrance of a Philadelphia polling place in their paramilitary uniforms, one <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritage.org\/commentary\/voter-intimidation-new-black-panther-style\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wielding<\/a> a billy club, shouting racial slurs and intimidating voters and election workers, including a white poll watcher.<\/p>\n<p>The outgoing Bush administration promptly filed charges, but Holder dropped almost all of them soon after Obama took office <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/blogs\/under-the-radar\/2011\/03\/eric-holder-black-panther-case-focus-demeans-my-people-033839\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">in order to<\/a> protect \u201cmy people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights investigated the decision, but Holder\u2019s Justice Department \u201crefused to allow anyone with firsthand knowledge of the lawsuit to testify\u201d and refused to provide documents requested by the commission.<\/p>\n<p>However, two career staff attorneys testified that the Justice Department did not think that voting rights laws should be enforced equally for all Americans, and that some attorneys declined to work cases where the victim was white and the defendant was black.<\/p>\n<p>Holder was simply following the clear preferences of President Barack Obama and his administration, which consistently showed preferences for black persons over whites, and declined to treat them equally under the law. (Recall, for example, Obama\u2019s \u201cif I had a son, he\u2019d look like Trayvon\u201d response to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/blogs\/politico44\/2012\/03\/obama-if-i-had-a-son-hed-look-like-trayvon-118439\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Trayvon Martin<\/a> case or <a href=\"https:\/\/manhattan.institute\/article\/obamas-ferguson-sellout\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">his giving fuel<\/a> to the sham Black Lives Matter, anti-police movement in its treatment of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/opa\/press-releases\/attachments\/2015\/03\/04\/ferguson_police_department_report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Michael Brown<\/a> case).<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SenatorDurbin\/status\/2077408979412562064?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">maintains<\/a> that \u201cTodd Blanche is Donald Trump\u2019s lawyer \u2014 not YOURS,\u201d but he heaped praise on Holder after he oversaw some of the biggest abuses of his office to date.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Attorney General also has revitalized the Justice Department\u2019s critical role in protecting the civil and human rights of all Americans, spearheading efforts to prevent discrimination at the ballot box and to reform our outdated sentencing policies for nonviolent drug offenses,\u201d Durbin <a href=\"https:\/\/www.durbin.senate.gov\/newsroom\/press-releases\/durbin-statement-on-resignation-of-attorney-general-eric-holder\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> upon Holder\u2019s resignation.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>IRS Targeting Conservatives<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Holder also oversaw the sham \u201cinvestigation\u201d into the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) after that agency, following the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritage.org\/testimony\/irs-abuses-ensuring-targeting-never-happens-again\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">orders<\/a> of Obama, targeted exclusively conservative nonprofits for ruin in an attempt to stop their criticism of the Obama administration.<\/p>\n<p>Holder made public statements calling the actions of the IRS \u201coutrageous and unacceptable,\u201d but then turned around and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/one-more-chance-for-justice-at-the-irs-1432854175?eafs_enabled=false\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">assigned<\/a> the case to \u201ca staff attorney who was an Obama donor.\u201d He also oversaw a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) that never intended to prosecute and declined requests for a special prosecutor. Justice Department attorneys under Holder were also implicated in the IRS scandal.<\/p>\n<p>After opening the investigation and dragging its feet, Holder\u2019s DOJ disappeared the case into the ether and closed it with zero accountability.<\/p>\n<p>According to Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., Blanche is a \u201chatchet man\u201d who \u201cacts as Trump\u2019s personal attorney and political henchman\u201d and is \u201ccosting the Department its customary \u2018presumption of regularity.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Whitehouse had no such criticism for Holder, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/archives\/opa\/pr\/statements-departure-attorney-general-eric-holder\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">stating<\/a>, \u201cThank you, Attorney General\u00a0#Holder, for restoring confidence &#038; morale and bringing honor &#038; dignity to\u00a0@TheJusticeDept\u00a0for the last 6 years.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Fast and Furious<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Obama administration pursued a reckless plan to heavily arm Mexican drug cartels, claiming the purpose was to track the weapons to more senior members. Instead, the guns ended up at crime scenes and caused the death of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry.<\/p>\n<p>Instead of owning up to the botched plan, Holder instigated a cover-up, stonewalling Congress for the political protection of the Obama administration.<\/p>\n<p>The cover-up ran so deep that Holder initially <a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/5-3-12-Memo-Update-on-Op-Fast-and-Furious.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">testified<\/a> before the Senate that Fast and Furious did not, in fact, contribute to the death of Terry and refused to apologize to his family. He also refused to give key information about it.<\/p>\n<p>Later, Holder admitted the operation was \u201cfundamentally flawed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For the cover-up, the House of Representatives held Holder in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.csmonitor.com\/USA\/Politics\/DC-Decoder\/2012\/0628\/House-holds-Eric-Holder-in-contempt-What-happens-to-him-now\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">contempt of Congress<\/a> on two counts, the first time in U.S. history that a sitting cabinet member had been held in contempt by either house.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., who was a member of the House during the entirety of Holder\u2019s tenure but who now has a vote in Blanche\u2019s confirmation, has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.schiff.senate.gov\/news\/press-releases\/news-sen-schiff-launches-inquiry-into-acting-attorney-general-todd-blanches-disregard-of-ethics-directive-to-recuse-from-himself-from-trump-related-cases\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">claimed<\/a> that Blanche \u201cignored ethics and legal advice\u201d as Trump apparently plans to \u201cuse the Department to exact vengeance against his political enemies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, when the House voted to hold Holder in contempt of Congress for his Fast and Furious debacle, Schiff <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/democrats-eric-holder-contempt-vote-fast-furious-2012-6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">not only voted<\/a> \u201cno\u201d (numerous Democrats voted \u201cyes\u201d), but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.csmonitor.com\/USA\/Politics\/DC-Decoder\/2012\/0628\/House-holds-Eric-Holder-in-contempt-What-happens-to-him-now\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">described<\/a> the bipartisan vote as a \u201cpartisan hunt for the scalp of a senior administration official.\u201d He further <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2011\/10\/26\/cornyn-asks-lawmakers-investigate-atf-texas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">defended<\/a> Holder as being \u201cforthright throughout,\u201d and asserted that Holder was apparently \u201cnot briefed on the details of Operation Fast and Furious until after the serious problems became public.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>      Breccan F.
