Josh Hawley, Blanche <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=mwNqkwww9l4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">explained<\/a> that the DOJ is \u201cnot defending what Biden did, and will not,\u201d when it stripped the safety regulations from mifepristone following the Supreme Court\u2019s <em>Dobbs v. Jackson<\/em> decision.<\/p>\n<div id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1733619937\" class=\"d-flex justify-content-center fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2 fdrlst__b89e9-entity-placement\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1463670073398-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe want to get to a good result consistent with President Trump\u2019s administrative directive and priorities,\u201d Blanche claimed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Blanche repeatedly refused to discuss the DOJ\u2019s \u201clitigation strategy\u201d in the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/05\/15\/women-babies-at-risk-after-scotus-authorizes-mail-order-abortion-for-now\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ongoing landmark <em>Louisiana v. FDA<\/em> case<\/a> because \u201cit\u2019s not appropriate.\u201d Instead, the nominee pledged the DOJ and the Trump administration as a whole to \u201cprotect the life of the unborn and work with states and obviously [Hawley] to make sure that we do that in the best way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Blanche, that pledge to protect extends to defending the abortion pill safety guidelines, which included an in-person doctor visit, set by the first Trump administration.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI anticipate we, the department, would defend those rules,\u201d Blanche told Hawley.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even though no <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/media\/128651\/download\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">review is required<\/a> for the FDA to <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/10\/28\/trumps-trusted-pollster-even-pro-aborts-say-mifepristone-is-dangerous-and-needs-fda-regulation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reinstate<\/a> some of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/even-pro-aborts-say-mifepristone-needs-fda-regulation\/\" title=\"Even Pro-Aborts Say ... Needs FDA Regulation\">common-sense abortion pill safeguards<\/a>, Blanche was careful to note that the DOJ believes the burden of correcting the mifepristone guidelines rests on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration\u2019s abortion pill review. The FDA previously signaled it does not plan to reinstate the first Trump administration\u2019s mifepristone Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy until its review is complete.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cRemember, we have to have studies that we can defend in court. We have to be able to say to a judge, probably in this district, that our change was not arbitrary and capricious,\u201d Blanche began. \u201cSo we\u2019re trying to let FDA \u2014 we, meaning the Department of Justice \u2014 do their work so that we can have, continue to protect the lives of the unborn children, and frankly, the state\u2019s laws, like Missouri\u2019s, which is really what\u2019s being violated here at its core.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The exchange concluded shortly after Blanche responded positively to Hawley\u2019s pitch for a \u201cProtecting Women and Children Initiative, that would work then with states to go after these coerced abortions,\u201d like the one suffered by <em>Louisiana v. FDA<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/10\/30\/woman-coerced-into-abortion-asks-fda-to-stop-shielding-abusers-and-their-drug-dealers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">plaintiff Rosalie Markezich<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI very much commit to looking at that. I share your concerns. The story you mentioned, I\u2019m aware of that story. It\u2019s horrible. I think there\u2019s, a lot of that is not necessarily a federal crime, but the federal government can certainly help in that space,\u201d Blanche said<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Blanche also answered in the affirmative to Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=WHJPksVaFho\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">asked<\/a> whether the DOJ \u201cwill carefully evaluate every lawful action available to ensure the faithful enforcement of the Comstock Act and other federal pro-life acts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some pro-life activists, including <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/07\/14\/todd-blanche-can-end-bidens-illegal-mail-order-abortion-scheme-now\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Susan B.
