In that <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/fox-news-poll-early-look-georgia-senate-race\">poll<\/a>, Bottoms held a 5-percentage-point margin over Jackson.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite Bottoms and Ossoff stumping together and running on similar <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/affordability\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"21532\">affordability<\/a> and anti-Beltway corruption messages, the two have different election scenarios. This is Bottoms\u2019s first gubernatorial general election, while Ossoff is running as an incumbent. Ossoff is one of the Senate\u2019s most proven fundraisers, with over <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/data\/candidate\/S8GA00180\/?cycle=2026&#038;election_full=false\">$32.5 million<\/a> in cash on hand so far in this <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/2026-election\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"11675\">election<\/a> cycle alone. Bottoms, on the other hand, has a <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2026\/05\/19\/bottoms-wins-georgia-governor-primary-00929086\">multimillion-dollar<\/a> fundraising deficit to make up against her billionaire general election opponent, per <em>Politico<\/em>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-2\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap wex-ad-art-dsk-inart-2\" style=\"min-height:90px\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" hidden>Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-16\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-2\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bottoms also had to run in a primary, facing off against six other candidates vying for the spot, while Ossoff faced no primary challenge, cruising to the general election with more consolidated support.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Furthermore, Ossoff is running for a federal seat, for which Georgians have proven willing to elect a Democrat. The state has two Democratic Senators, Ossoff and Sen. <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/raphael-warnock\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"1999\">Raphael Warnock<\/a> (D-GA), and swung Joe Biden\u2019s way in the 2020 presidential election by 0.2 percentage points.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, the Peach State has not elected a Democrat for governor since 1999, and Gov. <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/brian-kemp\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"3312\">Brian Kemp<\/a> (R-GA) is finishing up his popular two-term stint at the helm of the state\u2019s executive branch.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-3\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap wex-ad-art-dsk-inart-3\" style=\"min-height:90px\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" hidden>Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-17\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-3\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the Senate side, while Ossoff did not have to go to bat for his party\u2019s nomination, Collins pulled away from his GOP runoff with an 11-percentage-point margin of victory over Kemp-backed Derek Dooley. But Collins has yet to consolidate all the support from voters who supported Dooley and the other leading primary candidate, Rep.
