Hollywood has turned its back on conservatives, especially people of faith. They never miss a chance to caricature Christianity or mercilessly mock traditional values.<\/p>\n<p>It appears the American people are rejecting this agenda in favor of alternative content from ventures like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/theconservativetribune\/videos\/young-washington-delivers-revolutionary-hit-for-angel-studios-honoring-americas-\/1366227458695979\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Angel Studios<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/m.ekkl.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EKKL<\/a> Entertainment.<\/p>\n<p>EKKL was named for the Greek word ekklesia, meaning \u201can assembly of the faithful.\u201d The company markets itself as a \u201ctrusted home for entertainment, inspiration, and connection,\u201d providing podcasts, movies, daily devotionals, scripture, and other \u201cauthentic voices\u201d to lift the spirit.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with The Western Journal, the Robertsons discussed their role as executive producers for the upcoming film \u201cElijah Peel,\u201d which is due out in theaters Aug. 14.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople are hungry for [depth],\u201d Korie proclaimed. \u201cThey\u2019re looking for stories that have meaning, that offer hope, that are uplifting to culture, rather than degrading to culture. We do live in a hard time right now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo how do we \u2014 through entertainment \u2014 offer people hope, and offer people positive family values, and things that are important to our family?\u201d she asked. \u201cWe\u2019re very excited to do that through EKKL.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The film is based on writer\/director Kevin Sepe\u2019s struggle with addiction before he found God. The fictional take follows a rock star who is suddenly hit with serious health problems before meeting a young, sick child who inspires him to be better.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Kevin\u2019s] actually quite the character. So, Elijah Peel really does reflect his life and his story of this rock star, like bigger-than-life kind of persona,\u201d Korie said. \u201cYou can have all the fame, you can have all the success, you could have all the money, all those things, but still, life can hit you, and you can end up flat on your back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When asked why they chose this particular film, Willie replied, \u201cThis was the kind of story that I think we\u2019re looking for. One, it\u2019s well done. It\u2019s well made; the story\u2019s great \u2026 Sometimes you have movies that look great, but the story\u2019s kind of not good. So this one kind of had all those elements, where you have a great story.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd then when it\u2019s put together, it looks good, it looks professionally good,\u201d he continued. \u201cI think sometimes faith-based shows in the past \u2014 let\u2019s face it \u2013they\u2019re a little cheesy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Willie rightfully pointed out how faith-based media tends to fall short when it comes to characters, subtlety, and contradiction. There are exceptions, however, like Mel Gibson, who made \u201cThe Passion of the Christ\u201d and \u201cHacksaw Ridge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But most times, budget constraints prevent these movies from having quality scripts, music, set designs, and other key pieces that captivate audiences. Willie said \u201cElijah Peel\u201d is different because of its \u201cgritty\u201d tone and down-to-earth themes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s kind of a new take on a guy that chases after the world,\u201d he explained. \u201cI think a lot of us find ourselves where we\u2019ve been like that. Maybe not to his extent, then he\u2019s boom, he\u2019s flat on his back, he\u2019s got health issues, and he has to start thinking about his whole life. And what does this all mean? And God provides this girl who\u2019s having her own challenges as well, and boom, there\u2019s a beautiful story. What\u2019s the hope? How do we get out of this? And I think storytelling can help do that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As Anthony Hopkins in HBO\u2019s \u201cWestworld\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=fuuGM0cAOJ8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>: \u201cI always loved a good story.
