Despite thier advice, Polis granted her clemency in June, leading to outrage among Democrats. The two board members published an op-ed criticizing Polis’s decision and revealing details about their vote, wich resulted in their firing for violating confidentiality laws, as they disclosed confidential proceedings and records. Polis emphasized that maintaining confidentiality is essential for the integrity of the clemency process.Tina Peters, who was sentenced to nine years in prison and later released after Polis’s commutation, visited Donald Trump at the White House following her release. Publicly, some officials like Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser opposed Peters\u2019s release, reaffirming her conviction and emphasizing her violations as serious misconduct.
