Court records <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dhs.gov\/news\/2026\/07\/01\/minnesota-madness-governor-tim-walz-pardons-criminal-illegal-alien-convicted\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">revealed<\/a> that he \u201crepeatedly sexually assaulted a girl between 2002 and 2004. He also offered the girl he abused \u201c$10 to keep quiet about the sexual assaults.\u201d During interviews with law enforcement at the time, Vang shifted blame of the abuse on his culture, claiming it was permissible to \u201cmarry and have sex with girls as young as 12.\u201d DHS also claimed Vang said the girl he abused was equally as guilty as him and \u201cshould be arrested too.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Court records show that Vang pleaded guilty to \u201cpenetration or contact with a person under 13 years old by an actor more than 36 months older\u201d on October 31, 2005, and was <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.valleynewslive.com\/2026\/07\/02\/dhs-man-convicted-2006-child-sex-crimes-mn-pardoned-weeks-before-planned-deportation\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sentenced<\/a> in February 2006 to 12 years, \u201cwith the sentence stayed.\u201d He was also issued 30 years of supervised probation.
