to it, whether it be from <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/pop-culture\/\">pop culture<\/a> or history. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ford vehicles have carried Americans to and from work for 123 years, and it all started with the Model T. The Model T revolutionized car manufacturing and changed the way Americans traveled, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fromtheroad.ford.com\/us\/en\/articles\/2026\/driving-america-forward-union-station-exhibit\">according to<\/a> a Ford press release.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-2\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap wex-ad-art-dsk-inart-2\" style=\"min-height:90px\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" hidden>Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-16\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-2\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The exhibit featured the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.asme.org\/about-asme\/engineering-history\/landmarks\/233-model-t\">15 millionth Model T<\/a>, which was the last one ever made. It was produced at the Ford factory in <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/michigan\/\">Michigan<\/a> in 1927, marking the end of the vehicle\u2019s 19-year production.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The hunter green vehicle had the words \u201cThe Fifteen Millionth Ford\u201d painted on its sides. Ryan said the car\u2019s <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thehenryford.org\/collections\/explore\/artifact\/304049?AssetId=THF136785\">engine is hand-stamped <\/a>with the number 15,000,000 by eight of Ford\u2019s longest-serving employees, each employee stamping one numeral.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The last Ford Model T produced, at Ford\u2019s \u201cDriving America Forward\u201d exhibit at Union Station in Washington, D.C., July 1, 2026. (Britta Miller\/Washington Examiner)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ford helped refine the moving assembly line, cutting build time for the Model T from over <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/guides.loc.gov\/this-month-in-business-history\/October\/Ford\">12 hours to about 90 minutes<\/a> in some stages. This helped cut production costs too, and made the cars more affordable.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-3\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap wex-ad-art-dsk-inart-3\" style=\"min-height:90px\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" hidden>Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-17\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-3\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Previous to this, motor vehicles were only seen as available for the wealthy. The significant drop in price made car ownership attainable for <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/middle-class\/\">middle-class<\/a> families.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/entertainment\/4625038\/what-to-know-july-4th-celebration-dc\/\"><strong>WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT THE JULY FOURTH CELEBRATIONS IN DC<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Henry Ford, founder of the Ford Motor Company, also made a profound impact with the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thehenryford.org\/collections\/explore\/sets\/detail\/henry-ford-5-day?AssetId=THF94858\">\u201c$5 workday.\u201d<\/a> He increased wages and reduced working hours, motivating workers and giving them the financial means to afford the very cars they were building.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-4\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap wex-ad-art-dsk-inart-4\" style=\"min-height:90px\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" hidden>Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-25\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-4\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This shift in affordability and <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >industrial job growth contributed<\/a> to broader economic changes that helped enable the Great Migration. Many black Americans from the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/the-south\/\">South<\/a> were able to move North in search of more opportunities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of Ford\u2019s most iconic vehicles was also on display, the Mustang. The white Mustang was unveiled in April 1964 on the floor of the New York World\u2019s Fair. (Britta Miller\/Washington Examiner)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou see the way people react to the different vehicles,\u201d Ryan said, highlighting how visitors were taking in the sights. <\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-5\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap wex-ad-art-dsk-inart-5\" style=\"min-height:90px\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" hidden>Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-26\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-5\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ryan also highlighted little surprises in the exhibit, such as a 1934 flathead Ford V-8 that was lent to the exhibit by Jay Leno. Leno bought a flathead for $350 when he was 14 years old. Ford\u2019s aerospace subsidiary designed and built much of the computer equipment used in mission control.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now, Ford\u2019s F-Series is one of the most widely known and bestselling vehicles in Ford\u2019s line.
