two years, thousands of fare evasion citations have been dismissed by the district\u2019s Office of Administrative Hearings, which is supposed to adjudicate tickets issued by the police and other city agencies.\u00a0A district official conceded that the \u201cstructural realities and independent nature of the agencies involved have <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >made effective fare enforcement difficult<\/a>.\u201d At a May 14 Metro meeting, officials said just bus fare evasion stood at 69.4% from July 2025 through March.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad ensure fare evasion citations are legible, accurate, and legally sufficient so that fares can be enforced,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> Previously, MTPD officers could engage with those who did not pay the fare but were unable to compel compliance.
