Jean Carroll in 1996. The jury awarded Carroll damages, concluding Trump had sexually abused her but not raping her under New York law.Trump has denied the allegations and argued that the trial was unfair due to certain evidentiary rulings. Additionally, he is appealing an $83.3 million award related to a second defamation case. Carroll filed her lawsuit in 2019 under a New York law that removed the statute of limitations for sexual abuse claims. Although jurors did not find Trump liable for rape under New York\u2019s legal definition in effect at the time, they concluded he had sexually abused Carroll.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trump has consistently denied Carroll\u2019s allegations, calling them false and politically motivated. In asking the Supreme Court to intervene, his attorneys argued the trial was tainted by evidentiary rulings that allowed jurors to hear testimony from two other women who accused Trump of sexual misconduct, as well as the 2005 <em>Access Hollywood<\/em> recording.
