Yet its proponents, including the parents of some <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.asrm.org\/news-and-events\/asrm-news\/press-releasesbulletins\/for-the-first-time-more-than-100000-babies-born-through-ivf-in-the-u.s.-in-a-single-year\/\">100,000 babies<\/a> born each year, argue that they would not be able to have children without it. Paxton said that he wants to look into the \u201cethics and the morality of doing certain things\u201d as \u201cscience and technology move forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Paxton would not commit to whether or not he would support a hypothetical bill establishing national protections for IVF in Congress. <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cruz.senate.gov\/newsroom\/press-releases\/sens-cruz-britt-introduce-legislation-protecting-ivf\">Republicans<\/a> and <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.booker.senate.gov\/news\/press\/booker-senate-democrats-urge-republicans-to-help-pass-legislative-package-to-establish-a-nationwide-right-to-ivf-and-lower-ivf-costs-for-families\">Democrats<\/a> alike have introduced legislation ensuring that patients retain access, either by punishing states that restrict it or by establishing a federal statutory right.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-2\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap wex-ad-art-dsk-inart-2\" style=\"min-height:90px\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" hidden>Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-16\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-2\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s easy to say I\u2019d support a vote, but I would need to read the bill, find out exactly what it does, find out what protections are in there,\u201d Paxton said. \u201cI want couples to be able to have babies, but I also want protection, so I can\u2019t say blanketly I\u2019d support any bill.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Paxton\u2019s campaign, however, told the <em>Texas Tribune<\/em> earlier this month that he would cosponsor a pro-IVF bill from Sens.
