The <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/06\/25\/supreme-court-affirms-temporary-status-for-foreign-migrants-is-temporary\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ruling<\/a> came in <em>Mullin v. Doe<\/em> and <em>Trump v. Miot<\/em>. Trump tried to revoke TPS for roughly 350,000 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/judge-blocks-trump-haiti-tps-termination-11455548?utm_term=Autofeed&#038;utm_medium=Social&#038;utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1770080717\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Haitian<\/a> nationals living in the country, but U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/03\/10\/year-into-trump-2-0-judicial-insurrectionists-reign-supreme\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">issued a ruling<\/a> in February blocking the president from doing so. Reyes justified her usurpation of executive authority by <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/04\/08\/judges-wont-let-trump-end-program-that-brought-haitian-man-accused-of-bludgeoning-clerk-to-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">claiming<\/a> George Washington would have supported TPS.<\/p>\n<div id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-860469052\" class=\"d-flex justify-content-center fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2 fdrlst__b89e9-entity-placement\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1463670073398-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Like clockwork, Democrats rushed to demand the court must be \u201creformed\u201d because they didn\u2019t like the ruling. <\/p>\n<p>Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RepMoulton\/status\/2070158720349130871?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Seth Moulton<\/a>, D-Mass., posted on X: \u201cDonald Trump\u2019s Supreme Court has ended legal protections for tens of thousands of Haitian and Syrian migrants. Rather than protect the hard-working families that contribute to our communities, Trump\u2019s justices are sending them back to the same places they fled. Democrats need to reform the court to preserve our rights and protect TPS families.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/clips\/2026\/06\/26\/moulton-we-should-talk-court-packing-because-scotus-is-saying-haitians-should-go-back\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Moulton<\/a> later went on CNN to explicitly call for \u201cpacking\u201d and \u201cexpanding\u201d the court.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Jim McGovern, D-Mass., responded to the court\u2019s decision by <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RepMcGovern\/status\/2070245535584293130?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">posting on X<\/a>: \u201cExpand the court.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass., <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/EdMarkey\/status\/2070160501640736983?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">responded<\/a> to the ruling by posting on X: \u201cThe far-right MAGA majority on the Court cannot stand. We need to win back the House and the Senate and expand the Court.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Yvette Clark, D-N.Y, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RepYvetteClarke\/status\/2070187646039556582?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> Congress has \u201cstood by and waited for this activist court to recalibrate its duty to the law and America\u2019s well-being. \u2026 It\u2019s clear now that this legislative body must seize back the power that our increasingly unequal branches have stolen, and that must start with action to protect the hundreds of thousands of TPS holders whose lives depend upon it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This wouldn\u2019t be the first time Democrats try to change the rules because they \u201clost.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Former Vice President Kamala Harris <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/06\/25\/democrats-revive-fdr-court-packing-scheme-to-rig-the-supreme-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">just recently suggested<\/a> that possibly expanding the Supreme Court is part of Democrats\u2019 \u201cno bad idea brainstorm.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After the Supreme Court ruled in <em>Louisiana v. Callais<\/em> that states cannot use race in the redistricting process, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/05\/01\/dems-revive-court-packing-threats-after-being-told-they-cant-do-racist-gerrymandering\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">suggested<\/a> that \u201ceverything is on the table\u201d when \u201cdeal[ing] with\u201d the high court.<\/p>\n<p>Longtime Democrat strategist James Carville said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=7CYYf1fXDKQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">recent interview<\/a> that \u201cif the Democrats win the presidency and both houses of Congress, I think on day one, they should make Puerto Rico, D.C., a state, and they should\u00a0expand the Supreme Court\u00a0to 13.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Even on a state level Democrats have sought to expand the court when they are issued a ruling they dislike. After Virginia\u2019s Supreme Court shot down Democrats\u2019 unconstitutional attempt to redistrict, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-downballot.com\/p\/how-virginia-democrats-can-retire\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">several <\/a>on the left called to make drastic changes to the court, including lowering the retirement age for justices.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">\n<div class=\"article-author-description fst-italic\">      Brianna Lyman is an elections correspondent at The Federalist.
