The legislation, signed by Governor Abigail Spanberger in April, aimed to prohibit the sale, purchase, importation, manufacture, and transfer of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dems-unconstitutional-gun-bill-would-jail-law-abiding-virginians-2\/\" title=\"Dems&#039; &#039;Unconstitutional&#039; Gun Bill Would Jail Law-Abiding Virginians\">semiautomatic center-fire rifles<\/a> or pistols holding more than 20 rounds, along with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-gun-policies-concern-second-amendment-advocates\/\" title=\"Biden gun policies concern Second Amendment advocates\">high-capacity magazines<\/a> exceeding 15 rounds. The injunction follows a civil lawsuit filed by gun rights advocates, including Gun Owners of America and the Virginia Citizens Defense League, who argued that the ban violated Virginia\u2019s constitutional rights to bear arms. The court\u2019s decision means the ban will not go into effect on July 1 and will remain on hold until the end of the year. The Virginia Citizens Defense League expressed satisfaction with the ruling, while the plaintiff, john Crump, criticized it, noting the organizations lacked standing in the case. A similar legal challenge in Spotsylvania County was not granted a preliminary injunction. The plaintiffs argued the ban violated Article I, Section 13 of the Virginia Constitution, which protects the right of Virginians to bear arms.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The judge\u2019s ruling means Spanberger\u2019s ban will no longer go into effect on July 1 as planned, and the preliminary injunction will last until the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Phillip Van Cleave, the president of Virginia Citizens Defense League, told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> that the organization is \u201cextremely pleased\u201d with the ruling, but emphasized the fight is not over.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-2\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap\" style=\"min-height:5px;\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" style=\"display:none;\">Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-16\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-2\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cVCDL is extremely pleased with this ruling, as it stops an unconstitutional violation of the rights of gun owners,\u201d Van Cleave said. \u201cWe expect the state will appeal this to a higher court.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite VCDL claiming victory, Crump said the judge ruled that the organizations joining the lawsuit did not have standing.
