Kennedy Jr.<\/a> joined forces with President <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"4\">Donald Trump<\/a> on the 2024 presidential campaign trail.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Glyphosate is the most common weedkiller and agricultural pesticide in the United States. Roughly <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.epa.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/2019-04\/documents\/glyphosate-response-comments-usage-benefits-final.pdf\">280 million pounds<\/a> of glyphosate is sprayed on nearly 300 million acres of farmland each year, according to the EPA.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">MAHA advocates say glyphosate is responsible for both rising cancer rates among agriculture workers and the increase in gluten intolerance and other\u00a0metabolic dysfunction\u00a0issues, making the Supreme Court\u2019s decision to grant liability to Bayer a loss\u00a0for the movement. <\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-2\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap\" style=\"min-height:5px;\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" style=\"display:none;\">Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-16\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-2\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The case, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/supreme-court\/4544893\/supreme-court-split-roundup-lawsuit\/\"><em>Monsanto v. Durnell<\/em><\/a>, revolves around whether the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act gives the EPA sole authority to determine what warning labels can be on regulated products, including warnings that a product may contain cancer-causing chemicals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bayer, the parent company of Monsanto and maker of glyphosate, has faced billions of dollars in civil litigation claims, saying that it failed to warn consumers that Roundup, the commercial name for glyphosate, may be linked to the cancer non-Hodgkin lymphoma. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So-called \u201cfailure to warn\u201d cases against Bayer started after\u00a0a working group of the World Health Organization\u2019s <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iarc.who.int\/featured-news\/media-centre-iarc-news-glyphosate\/\">International Agency for Research on Cancer<\/a> classified the chemical as \u201cprobably carcinogenic to humans\u201d in 2015.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-3\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap\" style=\"min-height:5px;\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" style=\"display:none;\">Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-17\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-3\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The plaintiff, John Durnell, alleges his cancer was triggered by agricultural glyphosate exposure. A <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/missouri\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"1099\">Missouri<\/a> jury in 2019 awarded Durnell $1.25 million in damages, citing the failure of Monsanto to warn consumers of the cancer risk. A Missouri appellate court sided with Durnell, and the state Supreme Court declined to take up Monsanto\u2019s second appeal. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The federal Supreme Court agreed to hear the case after the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/department-of-justice\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"438\">Department of Justice<\/a> intervened on behalf of Bayer, Monsanto\u2019s parent company, arguing that warning labels should be based on EPA evidence rather than decided on a state-by-state basis or by civil juries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The EPA, which has regulated glyphosate since the 1970s, is scheduled to review the environmental and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/do-electromagnetic-fields-regulate-your-health\/\" title=\"Do Electromagnetic Fields Regulate Your Health?\">human health effects<\/a> of the chemical later this year. Unlike the IARC, the EPA does not view the evidence as pointing to glyphosate being carcinogenic to humans. <\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-4\">\n<div href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/MAHA_Action\/status\/2067955566799139202?s=20\">earlier this year<\/a> that, at his agency, \u201cthere is no pre-judging of what the review is going to show.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhatever the science and the review shows, that is what gets communicated to the public,\u201d Zeldin said at the event, adding that he does not want to \u201chave a process where I\u2019m telling scientists before it starts what I want the final product to show.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ruling marks a devastating blow to the MAHA voting bloc ahead of the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/2026-election\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"11675\">midterm elections<\/a> this to the ruling that the case would be a make-or-break moment for the MAHA movement. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIf immunity is granted, as the administration has sided with German manufacturer Bayer on this issue, MAHA will lose their minds,\u201d Giagnorio said. \u201cThis will be the final straw for MAHA, and cancer patients will suffer as a result and will not have any recourse to sue for their injury.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A March poll conducted by <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dataforprogress.org\/blog\/2026\/4\/14\/maha-lacks-a-true-base-and-voters-reject-its-real-world-impact\">314 Action<\/a> found that 76% of voters support reducing pesticides in agriculture, including 47% who strongly support such proposals. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/healthcare\/4606720\/gubernatorial-candidates-make-iowa-healthy\/\"><strong>MAKING IOWA HEALTHY AGAIN IN THE GUBERNATORIAL
