return false;\" title=\"Printer Friendly, PDF &#038; Email\"><span id=\"printfriendly-text2\" class=\"pf-button-text\"><i class=\"mdi mdi-printer\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<p>If President Trump is still trying to weed out government workers who are threatening to undermine his agenda from within, he might want to take a look at one of his immigration judges named Holly D\u2019Andrea.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with The New York Times (repackaged <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/06\/23\/podcasts\/the-daily\/trump-immigration-judges.html?showTranscript=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">this week<\/a> for <em>The Daily <\/em>podcast), D\u2019Andrea said something that\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/02\/01\/the-media-dont-want-independence-in-trumps-admin-they-want-insubordination\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a dead giveaway<\/a> when someone wants to thwart elections and impose their own agendas\u2014 that certain government institutions and agencies need <em>independence<\/em> from the president, or <em>separation<\/em> from the <em>political process<\/em>. <\/p>\n<div id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-3960797586\" class=\"d-flex justify-content-center fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2 fdrlst__b89e9-entity-placement\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1463670073398-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re getting to a point now where it\u2019s just getting more and more necessary to have that full separation of power and have the immigration courts separate from the Department of Justice,\u201d D\u2019Andrea said. \u201cTake the policy influence away from the courts, so the courts can just enforce the law. That\u2019s all any of the immigration judges want. We want to be able to enforce the law and not be subject to just the policies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>D\u2019Andrea\u2019s predictable gripe is that she and her peers in the immigration court system have been instructed by the administration to execute the president\u2019s agenda. Namely, to burn through the obscene backlog of \u201casylum\u201d cases as quickly as possible \u2014 and no, that doesn\u2019t mean adding indefinite hearings and reports that seem to sustain the lives of both immigration judges and lawyers. It means to expedite the removal of foreigners who illegally entered the U.S., the vast majority of whom have <a href=\"https:\/\/shepelskylaw.com\/u-s-immigration-courts-reject-nearly-80-of-asylum-claims-under-new-policies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">no legitimate asylum claim<\/a> and who have instead exploited our laws in order to secure a low-wage job in America.<\/p>\n<p>For too <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >long government employees<\/a> like D\u2019Andrea have operated under the belief that they have no boss and, in fact, should never have to answer to anyone. But they do and his name is the American voter. At the moment, Donald Trump is the voter\u2019s chosen representative, and he got the job promising deportations.<\/p>\n<p>The whole concept of an \u201cindependent\u201d judge, agency, or office that operates within the executive branch <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/02\/25\/bureaucratic-defiance-of-elons-simple-email-requests-are-proving-the-case-for-doge-cuts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">has proven to be a sham<\/a>; it\u2019s the way Democrats have managed to set up their permanent power structures in Washington and elsewhere, immune from elections, thus permitting them to maintain control of the country even when they lose elections. The only thing that\u2019s independent is the voter\u2019s will, expressed at the national level every two years. To advocate \u201cseparation\u201d from that will is to express contempt for it.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe D\u2019Andrea isn\u2019t a terrible judge in every other aspect. But those comments she made to the Times indicate that there remains a big problem in the immigration courts.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">\n<div class=\"article-author-description
