Four Republican senators sided with Democrats to pass a symbolic resolution urging President Trump to withdraw U.S. troops from Iran, which Trump criticized as meaningless and damaging to his efforts, asserting he has Iran &#8220;on the ropes.&#8221; These senators also previously supported the resolution&#8217;s movement to the Senate floor,despite opposition from others like Rand Paul,who advocates for congressional approval before military actions. The resolution is, like most things in Congress, performative \u2014 a symbolic congressional directive that Trump has no obligation to follow. The president effectively told Congress to go pound Iranian sand. <\/p>\n<p>In a Truth Social post late Tuesday, Trump insisted he has \u201cIran on the ropes.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201c[A]nd the US Senate decides to have a poorly timed and meaningless War Powers Act vote, telling the number one sponsor of terror in the world that the United States doesn\u2019t like what I am doing to them, and I must stop, and by so doing has provided aid and comfort the enemy,\u201d he wrote. <\/p>\n<p>And he wasn\u2019t shy about sharing his dissatisfaction with the four \u201cRepublicans Losers [who] voted with the Dumocrats.\u201d  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese Senators have just made my job more difficult, but I will get it done, one way or the other, because I always get it done!\u201d The president added. <\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<div lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>\ud83d\udd25 Trump Claps Back at Senate Over Iran War Powers Vote<\/p>\n<p>President Trump fired back at the Senate after a War Powers Act resolution he called \u201cpoorly timed and meaningless,\u201d accusing some members of giving \u201caid and comfort\u201d to Iran:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, I have Iran on the \u2018ropes,\u2019 ready to go\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/UBuAZ3yt9j\">pic.twitter.com\/UBuAZ3yt9j<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u2014 Paul A. Szypula \ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8 (@Bubblebathgirl) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Bubblebathgirl\/status\/2069620698968952882?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 24, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>He expressed similar disappointment following House passage of the resolution earlier this month, with the assistance \u2014 again \u2014 of four Republicans, including Kentucky grandstander Thomas Massie.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Democrats are fueled by Trump Derangement Syndrome. They would rather have our Country fail than give me another, of many, victories,\u201d the president wrote in early June. \u201cThe four Republicans, that\u2019s a whole other story \u2014 They\u2019re GRANDSTANDERS! They should be ashamed of themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As always, you can\u2019t get blood from a turnip, and you won\u2019t find shame in the shameless. <\/p>\n<p>The resolution is mostly \u201cmeaningless.\u201d The Democrats\u2019 universally reviled Senate leader, Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and the usual suspects in corporate media insist the resolution\u2019s passage \u201csends a powerful message to the White House.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>It doesn\u2019t. It does, however, send a powerful message to conservative voters tired of a feckless GOP-controlled Senate. Once again, Senate RINOs have shown that they\u2019re more interested in scolding the president than fighting for his signature <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mich-gop-seeks-to-bypass-democrat-gov-whitmer-veto-with-election-integrity-package\/\" title=\"Mich. GOP seeks to bypass Democrat Gov. Whitmer veto with ... package\">election integrity package<\/a>. <\/p>\n<h2>Selling Out The SAVE America Act <\/h2>\n<p>The senators \u2014 Rand Paul, Ky.,\u00a0Susan Collins, Maine,  <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/people\/lisa-murkowski\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lisa Murkowski <\/a>,Alaska, and\u00a0Bill Cassidy, La., voted last week to move the resolution to the floor before siding once more with Democrats on Tuesday. Dem Sen. John Fetterman, D-Penn., a better \u201cmoderate\u201d than some of the worst RINOs in Congress, joined the rest of the Senate Republicans present in voting against the measure. <\/p>\n<p>Paul has been consistently adamant that the president should not have acted in Iran without congressional approval. <\/p>\n<p>To be sure, the war has been well received by <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/06\/18\/iran-is-not-the-united-states-war-to-fight\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">neocons<\/a>, not so much by many in the MAGA movement. As The Federalist\u2019s Skye Graham <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/06\/22\/poll-vast-majority-of-americans-want-iran-war-to-end-now\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a> this week, a new <a href=\"https:\/\/assets1.cbsnewsstatic.com\/hub\/cms\/prod_cms_alt\/file\/2026\/06\/21\/90063c95-6d0a-4a28-b9ab-528e08940916\/cbsnews_20260621_sun.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CBS News poll<\/a> found 78 percent of voters surveyed want the war in Iran to end now, compared to 22 percent who said the war should continue until Iran makes wider concessions. The poll shows 60 percent of all Republicans \u2014\u00a0 56 percent of MAGA Republicans \u2014 want an end to hostilities. <\/p>\n<p>All that said, the vast majority of Americans support the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/119th-congress\/house-bill\/7296\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act,<\/a> or the SAVE America Act, but leadership in the Republican-controlled Senate don\u2019t seem all that interested in passing it. <\/p>\n<p>Murkowski has been dead set against the SAVE America Act from the get-go. The extremely popular voter verification bill would <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ballots-cast-without-proof-of-citizenship-exploded-after-lawfare-crippled-arizona-election-laws\/\" title=\"Arizona&#039;s ... laws were weakened by lawfare, leading to a significant increase in ballots cast without proof of citizenship\">require documentary proof<\/a> of U.S. citizenship to register to vote and photo identification to vote in U.S. elections. Murkowski has been a <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/03\/20\/memo-to-senate-saving-americas-elections-is-your-no-1-job-right-now\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">perfect Democrat <\/a>on the subject, using the same inane and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.murkowski.senate.gov\/press\/release\/murkowski-i-support-voter-id_but-oppose-the-save-america-act\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fearmongering arguments<\/a> as the left has in her opposition to legislation whose key component is supported by <a href=\"https:\/\/wisconsinwatch.org\/2026\/02\/voter-id-americans-support-wisconsin-poll-photo-identification\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">north of 80 percent<\/a> of Americans.<\/p>\n<p>Murkowski and Collins joined Trump haters Thom Tillis, R-N.C., and swamp creature Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., in voting against a Senate <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/senate\/5844521-save-america-act-budget-package\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">measure<\/a> in April that would have attempted to include the SAVE America Act in a budget bill through the reconciliation process, a lower passage threshold than the usual 60 votes required to end the filibuster.  <\/p>\n<p>The same four voted with Democrats again earlier this month in blocking another Republican <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/four-senate-republicans-unite-dems-block-trumps-save-america-act\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">attempt<\/a> to tie the election integrity package to a budget bill. <\/p>\n<h2>\u2018Debate it Until it Passes\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Senate Majority Leader <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/05\/13\/john-failure-is-not-an-option-thune-just-failed-election-integrity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">John Thune,<\/a> R-S.D., and his leadership team have, at best, offered half-hearted efforts to get the SAVE America Act across the finish line. In March, Republicans launched a <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/03\/17\/senate-begins-show-debate-on-save-america-act\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pathetic attempt<\/a> to hold the floor to encourage Democrats to give in. It proved as lame as Thune\u2019s leadership. The charade quickly fell apart. <\/p>\n<p>Conservatives including Sens. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., and Rick Scott, R-Fla., have called for <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/04\/10\/gop-senators-nuke-the-filibuster-pass-the-save-america-act\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">nuking the filibuster<\/a> to pass the elections reform bill. They, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/bennyjohnson\/videos\/rand-paul-finally-snaps-and-demands-john-thune-hold-a-vote-for-the-save-america-\/1200702295385447\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Paul,<\/a> have pushed the idea of at least taking a Senate test vote to call Democrats\u2019 bluff, believing that Dems will kill the filibuster as soon as they\u2019re back in power. <\/p>\n<p>Thune recently insisted again that he doesn\u2019t have the votes in his conference to go nuclear. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe only way you can get \u2026 this done is to nuke the legislative filibuster, and that is not something that we have anywhere close to the votes to do,\u201d Thune recently told host <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/people\/bret-baier\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bret Baier <\/a>on Fox News\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/video\/6398595001112?msockid=093da1862d5668be3ba3b7722c3f69e5\"><em>Special Report<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He has said the same about the \u201ctalking filibuster,\u201d which would force Democrats to continuously debate the bill to prevent a vote on breaking the filibuster. The tactic would require senators to work more than 3 1\/2 days a week, a nonstarter for many. <\/p>\n<p>Saving the SAVE Act better be a priority for the Senate\u2019s GOP majority or they well could lose the power Trump delivered for them in 2024\u2019s election. <\/p>\n<p>Political analyst and pollster Matt Towery told Fox News\u2019 Laura Ingraham Tuesday night that the SAVE Act is what will save the Republican Party. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd they better get on the ball or they\u2019ll be the ones who cost us the midterms,\u201d Towery <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/video\/6399208428112\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Sen.
