Redistricting has limited the number of competitive districts in the state,with two on Long Island and two upstate; democrats gained three seats in 2024 following a Democratic wave in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Among key races, Rep.Tom Suozzi faces former State Assemblyman Mike LiPetri in the 3rd District, with national attention on the contest fueled by Vice president JD VanceS support for LiPetri and Suozzi&#8217;s accusations of misuse of funds. He left Congress to launch an unsuccessful bid for governor, though he won back his old seat in a 2024 special election after the House expelled Rep. George Santos (R-NY).<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">LiPetri served in the New York State Assembly from 2019 to 2021. In addition to his 2024 race against Suozzi, LiPetri also ran an unsuccessful 2020 campaign in New York\u2019s 2nd Congressional District.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/jimmy-patronis-wins-florida-house-seat-vacated-by-matt-gaetz-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Jimmy Patronis ... Florida ... seat vacated by Matt Gaetz - Washington Examiner\">race received national attention<\/a> last week when Vice President JD Vance <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/06\/17\/us-news\/jd-vance-visits-long-island-and-rips-into-local-congressman-as-he-pledges-to-stomp-out-fraud\/\">visited Long Island<\/a> to stump for LiPetri.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-3\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap\" style=\"min-height:5px;\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" style=\"display:none;\">Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-17\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-3\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIf you need a congressman, if you need somebody who\u2019s going to fight for you in Washington, DC, Michael LiPetri is your guy,\u201d Vance said at a campaign event. \u201cBut if you need a wealth manager, put your money wherever Tom Suozzi is putting his money, because this is a man who hates representing you, but loves sitting at his desk and trading stocks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Suozzi <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/suozzi.house.gov\/media\/in-the-news\/suozzi-formally-requests-probe-vice-president-jd-vances-appearance-bethpage-event\">alleged in response<\/a> that Vance had improperly used taxpayer funds to attend the event.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 3rd District, which covers parts of northern Long Island, is one of the state\u2019s wealthiest. Suozzi leads LiPetri by just over $4 million in fundraising, according to FEC filings. Laura Gillen (D-NY) in a race where both candidates cut their teeth in Hempstead, New York, town politics.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gillen, who clinched her seat in 2024, served as Hempstead Town supervisor from 2018 to 2020. She was the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.newsday.com\/long-island\/politics\/hempstead-supervisor-election-santino-gillen-a49096\">first Democrat elected<\/a> to that position in more than 100 years. Driscoll, meanwhile, has served as Hempstead Receiver of Taxes since 2020. She was previously an attorney for much of her career.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Former Rep. Anthony D\u2019Esposito was widely expected to challenge Gillen, whom he narrowly lost to in 2024. Gillen\u2019s campaign has brought in roughly $4.4 million more than Driscoll\u2019s. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">New York\u2019s 4th Congressional District covers a southern portion of Nassau County on Long Island. Josh Riley (D-NY) faces a challenge from Republican state Sen. Peter Oberacker over control of a district that stretches from Ithaca to the Albany outskirts to the Massachusetts border.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Riley was first elected to the House in 2024 after winning a rematch from 2022. Oberacker has served in the New York Senate since 2021. Oberacker started his career in the food industry at his father\u2019s butcher shop, Spicy Pete\u2019s Meats. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trump wrote in a <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/116794878683037090\">February endorsement<\/a> on Truth Social that Oberacker is a \u201cvery successful \u2018Meat Market\u2019 Businessman\u201d and \u201cDedicated Public Servant\u201d who has \u201cserved his Community with a career \u2018loaded up\u2019 with accolades and wins.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Oberacker fended off a primary challenge from fellow Republican Alexander Portelli. Portelli\u2019s campaign platform included a commitment to repeal the federal income tax on people above a certain income threshold. The Marine Corps veteran received a <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyfreeman.com\/2026\/04\/27\/alex-portelli-gop-candidate-for-19th-district-is-convicted-felon\/\">four-year prison sentence<\/a> in 2011 after police found ecstasy and other prescription drug tablets in the glovebox of his car.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">New York\u2019s 19th is one of the state\u2019s whitest congressional districts, with more than 8-in-10 residents identifying as non-Hispanic white on the 2020 census. Buller was chief of staff to USDA Secretary <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/brooke-rollins\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"11792\">Brooke Rollins<\/a> until February. She previously was the president and CEO of the National Oilseed Processors Association.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Republicans were dealt a blow when state Assemblyman John Lemondes appeared to be a likely contender for the GOP nominee, though he <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/cnycentral.com\/news\/local\/assemblyman-john-lemondes-ends-bid-for-ny-22-congressional-district\">suspended his campaign<\/a> in January. Buller announced her candidacy two months later.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/congressional\/4615730\/republican-national-committee-record-fundraising\/\"><strong>REPUBLICAN NATIONAL COMMITTEE BOASTS ALL-TIME HIGH CASH TOTAL<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">New York\u2019s 22nd Congressional District includes the eastern Finger Lakes region, Syracuse, and Utica. The district is heavily agricultural; Mannion is a member of the House Agriculture Committee, and the district <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nass.usda.gov\/Publications\/AgCensus\/2022\/Online_Resources\/Congressional_District_Profiles\/cd3622.pdf\">includes<\/a> over 2,000 farms.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mannion unseated then-Rep. Brandon Williams by 8 points in 2024. Harris received 53.3% of the district\u2019s vote that year.
