Others, such as Mark Levin, are now disenchanted with Trump\u2019s decision to try to end the war by talking to the government of Iran.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But part of what kept Trump\u2019s coalition together was that he offered <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/4507561\/trump-choose-own-adventure-iran-war\/\">a little something to various camps<\/a> of supporters with a wide variety of foreign-policy views, ranging from the possibility of regime change in Iran to <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/daily-memo\/4500754\/trump-needs-short-war-iran\/\">repeated assurances<\/a> this <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/daily-memo\/4499580\/midterm-elections-vance-economy-voters-war\/\">wouldn\u2019t be a forever war<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trump would say that the war was already basically won, seemingly ready to declare victory and come home, but then would indicate he was willing to escalate, followed by promises of a deal that Iran was especially desperate to make, not himself. <\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-2\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap\" style=\"min-height:5px;\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" style=\"display:none;\">Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-16\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-2\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eventually, Trump would have to settle on an option. When he did so, there was always a risk that it would alienate some erstwhile supporters. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps that\u2019s what was happening in the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/assets1.cbsnewsstatic.com\/hub\/cms\/prod_cms_alt\/file\/2026\/06\/21\/90063c95-6d0a-4a28-b9ab-528e08940916\/cbsnews_20260621_sun.pdf\">recent CBS News\/YouGov poll<\/a>, which comes closer to showing a \u201cMAGA civil war\u201d than most previous Iran polling.
