The lawsuit was filed before the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/department-of-justice\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"438\">Department of Justice<\/a> abandoned the fund entirely due to multiple legal challenges. In a separate case, the fund was indefinitely blocked by a federal judge in <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/virginia\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"96\">Virginia<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dunn resigned from the U.S. Capitol Police in December 2023, shortly before announcing his first congressional campaign. He <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/congressional\/4445401\/january-6-capitol-police-officer-harry-dunn-congress\/\">launched his latest campaign<\/a> in February.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In his final pitch to Maryland voters this time around, the congressional candidate prided himself on suing the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/trump-administration\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"339\">Trump administration<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-3\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap\" style=\"min-height:5px;\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" style=\"display:none;\">Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-17\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-3\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cA lot of candidates. A lot of information to sift through. We\u2019re doing our best job to make it easy for them about why I\u2019m the clear choice in my race,\u201d he said. \u201cI already have a track record of going up against Donald Trump. A lot of people like to say that, but me as a citizen,  Harry Dunn, have sued this administration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Boafo made a similar appeal to voters, calling himself a \u201cfighter\u201d who can stand up to Trump. He also noted that over <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.adrianboafo.com\/endorsements\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.adrianboafo.com\/endorsements\">35 elected officials have endorsed him<\/a>. Apart from Hoyer\u2019s support, the most notable endorsements come from Elfreth, Sen. <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/angela-alsobrooks\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"11317\">Angela Alsobrooks<\/a> (D-MD), and Gov. <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/wes-moore\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"3000\">Wes Moore<\/a> (D-MD).<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the final week before the primary, Dunn criticized his primary opponent for benefiting from millions of dollars in outside spending made by groups tied to the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/aipac\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"2620\">American Israel Public Affairs Committee<\/a> and the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/cryptocurrency\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"1699\">cryptocurrency<\/a> industry.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-4\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap\" style=\"min-height:5px;\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" style=\"display:none;\">Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-25\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-4\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dunn, Baker, and businesswoman Quincy Bareebe, all candidates for Maryland\u2019s 5th Congressional District, held a press call on Tuesday, calling on Boafo to reject outside spending in the race. They argued special interest groups shouldn\u2019t be influencing the primary for an open seat. Boafo maintained he remains opposed to outside spending, as he has been for years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019ve been on the record about condemning outside spending for a very long time,\u201d the leading candidate said. \u201cIt\u2019s an issue my opponents are trying to relitigate in this way. But I\u2019ve been very clear for seven years in elected life what I feel about big money in politics.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Boafo has benefited from $8.8 million in spending by outside groups, including the AIPAC-linked United Democracy Project and crypto-backed super PAC Protect Progress, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/rollcall.com\/2026\/06\/16\/maryland-democrats-slam-crypto-aipac-linked-spending-in-race-for-hoyers-seat\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/rollcall.com\/2026\/06\/16\/maryland-democrats-slam-crypto-aipac-linked-spending-in-race-for-hoyers-seat\/\">according to<\/a> <em>Roll Call<\/em>. Meanwhile, he has raised roughly $1.1 million directly for his campaign. Dunn and Bareebe have outpaced the front-runner by raising $4 million and $5.9 million, respectively.
