Action, is a decentralized collective of anti-ICE activists that formed during the second Trump administration to serve as \u201ccommunity defense\u201d against deportation operations across the Minneapolis metropolitan area and beyond.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a loosely affiliated coalition, DAMN comprises activists from several other Minneapolis-based suborganizations, such as the Black Cat Worker\u2019s Collective and the Ray Rainbolt Memorial Shooting Club.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-full\"><figcaption and RRMSC as \u201cantifa affinity groups\u201d committed to so-called <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.struggle-la-lucha.org\/2025\/04\/12\/las-community-self-defense-fights-ice-fascism\/\">community self-defense<\/a>, the practice of protecting illegal immigrant communities against the threat of deportation. At the local level, self-proclaimed antifascists typically assemble into small units, known as affinity groups, organized around their shared anarchist and socialist beliefs.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-2\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap\" style=\"min-height:5px;\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" style=\"display:none;\">Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-16\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-2\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BCWC promotes militancy as a means of achieving the group\u2019s political objectives. The collective\u2019s <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TC.WorkersDefense\/\">Facebook cover photo<\/a> is an image of a Minneapolis police station set ablaze during the 2020 Black Lives Matter riots, and <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"http:\/\/wildcattc.org\/about\">on their website<\/a>, they describe themselves as \u201ca group of dedicated anarchists who root ourselves in the labor and direct action movements.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Revolutionary-left activists see <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.seedsforchange.org.uk\/directaction\">\u201cdirect action\u201d<\/a> as a physical form of resistance, often relying on violence and criminal acts to oppose government policy. Those engaged in this type of activism explicitly <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thedirectactionmovement.com\/what-is-direct-action\">state<\/a> that \u201coperating within the boundaries of laws and demonstrating peacefulness are not elements of direct action.\u201d Direct action is intentionally disruptive, and common examples of it include rioting, blockades, and property damage.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-operational-strategies\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Operational strategies<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fitting within that direct action framework, authorities say DAMN deployed its network of operatives to form human barricades and physically confront immigration officers.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-3\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap\" style=\"min-height:5px;\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" style=\"display:none;\">Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-17\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-3\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The conspiracy charges stem from two blockades in particular that DAMN allegedly organized on Jan. 3 and March 1 outside the federal Whipple Building, which served as the base of operations for ICE\u2019s Operation Metro Surge in Minneapolis.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">A flipped trailer allegedly used by DAMN during a \u201chard\u201d blockade. (U.S. Justice Department)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Members of DAMN\u2019s \u201chard\u201d blockades allegedly overturned recreational vehicles and hurled chunks of ice at federal officers to block off roads around the Whipple Building in order to prevent ICE\u2019s access to the facility.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Others making up its \u201csoft\u201d blockades allegedly wielded makeshift shields, constructed from plastic, wood, and metal, to act as physical barriers, helping them to counter crowd-control measures and break through the police line.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-4\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap\" style=\"min-height:5px;\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" style=\"display:none;\">Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-25\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-4\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to staged standoffs with federal law enforcement around the Whipple Building, DAMN is suspected of overseeing high-level ICE tracking operations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the 94-page <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/media\/1446251\/dl?inline\">indictment<\/a>, the cell trained foot soldiers in rapid mobilization and close monitoring of their targets, modeling its dispatch infrastructure after ICE Watch patrols, which document ICE activity and send operatives in real time to reported sightings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Much of the cell\u2019s coordination allegedly took place over Signal, an encrypted messaging platform. According to investigators, DAMN members divided themselves into different subgroups on Signal based on their roles and responsibilities.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-5\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap\" style=\"min-height:5px;\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" style=\"display:none;\">Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-26\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-5\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For instance, investigators say DAMN members used the \u201cWhipple Watch\u201d Signal group chat to identify ICE personnel and record identifying information. The other Signal channels allegedly relied on this on-the-ground intelligence to target, follow, and harass ICE officers or damage their government-issued vehicles based on the relayed license plate details.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-defendants-charged\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Defendants charged<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The suspects named in the indictment all allegedly used various aliases on Signal and face varying charges, including conspiracy to impede or injure federal officers, interstate stalking, destruction of government property, assault of a federal officer, and solicitation to commit a crime of violence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among those federally indicted are:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Isaac Auman Sant, also known as \u201cIsaac Dalto\u201d and \u201cIke\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Emmett James Doyle, also known as \u201cPlotnikov\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Cameron Kennedy, also known as \u201cCam,\u201d \u201cOlive Knite,\u201d and \u201cKnite\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Callum Robinet, also known as \u201cJuliet K,\u201d \u201cJuliet,\u201d and \u201cCal\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Erik Davis, also known as \u201cErrico\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Brian Stillwell Apland, also known as \u201cTiny\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Kyle Wagner, also known as \u201cKaos\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Hannah Margaret Van De Water Davis, also known as \u201cGabriel Van De Water\u201d and \u201cNube\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Treasure Cay Thoreson, also known as \u201cSchatzi\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Nathan Junho Kim, also known as \u201cMoon Bear\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Alec Stewart, also known as \u201cMac\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Douglas Misterek, also known as \u201cDoug\u201d and \u201cD Munny Big Dog Orf Orf\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Dustin Scott Beisell, also known as \u201cSparky\u201d<\/li>\n<li>William Morgan, also known as \u201cWillow\u201d and \u201cWillow Tree\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Natasha Rakotz, also known as \u201cAnuran\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As opposed to their co-defendants, who keep relatively discreet digital profiles, Wagner and Kennedy frequently post calls to direct action on Facebook and Instagram.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prosecutors included in the charging documents a series of social media posts over the past few months from the defendants as proof of the criminal conspiracy and their open calls for political violence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In one Facebook post cited in the indictment, Kennedy wrote, \u201cI swear I\u2019m going to lose my f***ing mind if I see that \u2018If 3.5% of the population is committed to peaceful revolution, they win\u2019 bulls***. \u2026 They could not be more wrong. I want to make this as clear as I can: YOU WILL NEVER WIN WITH NON-VIOLENCE ALONE. Ever. No one has. No one will. You absolutely need militants to win.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In another highlighted post, Wagner instructed his followers that \u201cit\u2019s time to suit up\u201d with \u201cboots on the ground.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNo, not talking about peaceful protests anymore. We\u2019re not talking about having polite conversations anymore,\u201d Wagner, wearing a bulletproof vest, said in the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/MrAndyNgo\/status\/2015164997576360225\">recruitment video<\/a> reacting to the Jan. 24 shooting death of anti-ICE activist Alex Pretti by Customs and Border Protection officers. \u201cThis is exactly what I said was going to come when we didn\u2019t f**king go march on f***ing Whipple with guns.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wagner added, \u201cThis is not a f***ing joke. There\u2019s nothing fun to chant about it. Kennedy urged comrades to <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/theanarchistlibrary.org\/library\/nikita-shepard-becoming-ungovernable\">\u201cbecome ungovernable,\u201d<\/a> a common anarchist slogan, and \u201cactively resist\u201d what he called \u201cNazi occupation forces.\u201d Sant was a contributor to Crimethinc, an anarchist blog. In one <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/crimethinc.com\/2026\/01\/15\/north-minneapolis-chases-out-ice-a-firsthand-account-of-the-response-to-another-ice-shooting\">article<\/a>, Sant penned his \u201cfirsthand account\u201d of checking license plates against a database that the activists compiled on ICE vehicles in the area. Once he confirmed that a car belonged to ICE, fellow rioters began smashing in the vehicle\u2019s windows and lighting a firecracker inside.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Homeland Security Investigations conducted home raids on Tuesday and arrested 12 of the defendants. Two of them remain fugitives from justice, and one was already in federal custody on other charges.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Federal officials previously <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/4447202\/anti-ice-antifa-terrorist-kyle-wagner-arrested-minneapolis-threatening-agents-doj\/\">charged<\/a> Wagner with cyberstalking and threatening communications, citing his inflammatory content urging comrades to \u201chunt\u201d ICE.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/4412995\/liberal-activists-aggressive-ice-watch-tactics-target-federal-officers-minneapolis\/\">LIBERAL ACTIVISTS USE AGGRESSIVE \u2018ICE WATCH\u2019 TACTICS TO TARGET FEDERAL OFFICERS IN MINNEAPOLIS<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An alleged leader of DAMN, Wagner has <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/2026\/06\/localimages\/antifa1.png?itok=KbEaf_Mf\">a tattoo<\/a> on his neck of the Iron Front logo, an antifa emblem.
