The pool had turned green earlier in the week due to algae blooms, wich have been a longstanding issue because of Washington&#8217;s humid summers, shallow water, and limited shade. Recent renovations, completed as part of Trump\u2019s preparations for the nation\u2019s 250th anniversary, involved removing the algae using advanced nanobubbler technology, which effectively killed the algae. The department expressed satisfaction that the pool&#8217;s water has now returned to its clear blue hue,with residual algae believed to be caused by leftover supply-line contamination during the renovation process. The algae problem has historically plagued the pool,but officials consider this a normal part of the startup process after maintenance work. But after spending the week looking more swamp than monument, the pool is returned to its intended blue hue, according to the Interior Department.
