Chief among its critics was Rep. Shontel Brown (D-OH), who represents parts of Cleveland in Ohio\u2019s 11th District.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Brown accused President <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"4\">Donald Trump<\/a> and FBI Director <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/kash-patel\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"11691\">Kash Patel<\/a> of leading \u201ca systematic effort \u2026 to attack our elections and perpetuate more myths of voter fraud.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap\" style=\"min-height:5px;\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" style=\"display:none;\">Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-16\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-2\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMy office has contacted the FBI demanding information, and I am deeply concerned that this is an effort to use federal law enforcement to intimidate and halt voter registration and organizing efforts,\u201d she said in a statement. \u201cThis is an unprecedented attack on democracy: these raids must end immediately.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb, a Democrat, also weighed in on the reported raid.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOhioans deserve answers,\u201d he said. \u201cIf there is a legitimate basis for these actions, it should be disclosed. If not, the public has every right to question whether civic participation is being unfairly targeted.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap\" style=\"min-height:5px;\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" style=\"display:none;\">Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-17\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-3\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Democrat Amy Acton, who is running against Republican <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/vivek-ramaswamy\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"2872\">Vivek Ramaswamy<\/a> for Ohio governor in November, said she was \u201cdeeply troubled\u201d by the news.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAny attempts by federal law enforcement to intimidate eligible Ohioans from registering to vote are unacceptable,\u201d Acton said. \u201cBoth Republicans and Democrats attest to the security of Ohio\u2019s elections, and it is important that eligible Ohio voters feel safe registering to vote and casting their ballots this November.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Former Sen. <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/sherrod-brown\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"2353\">Sherrod Brown<\/a> (D-OH), who is running for the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/senate\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"8765\">Senate<\/a> again this year, claimed the federal government is \u201csilencing Ohioans and their ability to vote in free and fair elections\u201d by investigating a group that supports voter registration efforts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFor years, Ohio has had safe and secure elections that have been administered in a bipartisan fashion,\u201d he said. \u201cAny attempt to intimidate Ohio voters is wrong, and will not work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The FBI Cleveland field office confirmed the OOC was the subject of federal law enforcement activity, but no further details have been provided about the investigation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/4605570\/ohio-photo-id-mail-in-ballots-2027\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/4605570\/ohio-photo-id-mail-in-ballots-2027\/\">OHIO ADDS PHOTO ID REQUIREMENT FOR MAIL-IN BALLOTS IN 2027<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since Trump returned to office last year, the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/department-of-justice\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"438\">Justice Department<\/a> has taken a closer look at voter fraud in line with Trump\u2019s unsubstantiated claims of election fraud in 2020.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The DOJ has sued at least 30 states and <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/washington-dc\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"260\">Washington, D.C.<\/a>, to gain access to their respective voter rolls. So far, the department\u2019s attempts to force the handover of such data have been <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/4575062\/ninth-circuit-likely-adds-doj-losing-streak-state-voter-roll-lawsuits\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/4575062\/ninth-circuit-likely-adds-doj-losing-streak-state-voter-roll-lawsuits\/\">unsuccessful<\/a> in court.
