Brinkema said during a hearing in a federal courtroom in Virginia Friday that she was unconvinced by public statements from DOJ officials insisting the fund is dead, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-settlement-fund-irs-lawsuit-d8345ce8f5c7f8062b858e54c396c450\" type=\"link\" affirming that the fund will not be revived.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The DOJ had argued to Brinkema that the case was now moot, after Blanche and other officials had publicly said, including in testimony to Congress, they would not move forward with the controversial fund, which received pushback from both Democrats and Republicans.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis dispute concerns an Anti-Weaponization Fund that had not been set up and is now not going forward,\u201d the DOJ claimed in its brief filed to the district court ahead of Friday\u2019s hearing. \u201cAs a result, Plaintiffs\u2019 claims are not justiciable.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap\" style=\"min-height:5px;\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" subject of multiple lawsuits, including the one in federal court in Virginia and\u00a0another one\u00a0filed in federal court in the District of Columbia by two police officers who worked during the fund on Thursday. U.S. District Judge Richard Leon, an appointee of former President George W.
