Iran\u2019s hold over the critical Middle Eastern passageway has discouraged activity in the area, triggering a sweeping blockage of oil tankers and a global energy emergency.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap\" style=\"min-height:5px;\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" style=\"display:none;\">Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-16\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-2\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gas prices were trending downward as of Thursday. AAA analysis <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/gasprices.aaa.com\/news\/\">at the time<\/a> indicated that the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline was down 18 cents since the previous week, marking the second straight week of decline. But it\u2019s also because ships are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dr-oz-making-a-comeback-in-the-polls-vs-fetterman\/\" title=\"Dr. Oz Making a Comeback in the Polls vs. Fetterman\">slowly making<\/a> their way through the Strait of Hormuz again, with <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2026\/06\/06\/strait-of-hormuz-ship-traffic-iranian-drones-missiles-us-naval-overwatch\/\">reports last week<\/a> indicating nearly 1,000 commercial vessels have passed through in the past two months. The U.S. military has sought to establish a foothold in the region, boosting its security presence to guard friendly tankers in the waterway. Countries have used \u201cshadow\u201d fleet tactics to avoid Iranian fire, with 900 having sneaked through during the war, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/06\/04\/world-news\/two-thirds-of-tankers-going-dark-to-pass-through-strait-of-hormuz-analysts\/\">according to<\/a> the <em>New York Post<\/em>.
