The DOJ says the agreement follows an investigation alleging violations of federal law, including that the hospital allegedly mis-coded Medicaid billing to conceal transgender-related care for minors. The settlement also includes a $2 million commitment aimed at providing care for \u201cdetransitioners,\u201d according to the article.<\/p>\n<p>The piece further argues that the relevant medical interventions-such as cross-sex hormones,puberty blockers,and surgeries-have serious negative effects on children,and cites research that many children diagnosed with gender dysphoria end up identifying with their birth sex as adults. it also notes that this settlement is the second DOJ resolution of its kind, following a similar agreement involving Texas Children\u2019s Hospital. The agreements, made in coordination between the DOJ and Ohio Attorney General <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/DaveYostOH\/status\/2063654259665637758\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dave Yost<\/a>, also include a landmark commitment of $2 million to provide care for detransitioners.<\/p>\n<p>This settlement is part of the DOJ\u2019s ongoing investigation into \u201cviolations of federal law in connection with sex-rejecting procedures on minors,\u201d according to a June 5 press release. The department <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/DaveYostOH\/status\/2063654259665637758\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">found<\/a> that the Cleveland Clinic had \u201cmis-coded Medicaid billing to disguise transgender procedures on minors,\u201d Yost said.<\/p>\n<div id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-2740176218\" class=\"d-flex justify-content-center fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2 fdrlst__b89e9-entity-placement\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1463670073398-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Cleveland Clinic promised to cease all sex-rejecting procedures on minors for 20 years, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/pentagon-doctors-back-child-sex-changes-blast-red-states\/\" title=\"Pentagon Doctors Back Child Sex Changes, Blast Red States\">including cross-sex hormones<\/a>, puberty blockers, and transgender surgeries. These procedures, along with others, have been shown to have extremely <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/06\/09\/gender-affirmation-for-minors-is-child-abuse-not-treatment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">negative<\/a> effects on children. Puberty blockers, for example, may cause future <a href=\"https:\/\/transcare.ucsf.edu\/guidelines\/fertility\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">infertility<\/a> and loss of <a href=\"https:\/\/pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/articles\/PMC6616494\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bone density<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the list of side effects, studies also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medscape.com\/viewarticle\/958742#vp_4?form=fpf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">show<\/a> that most children diagnosed with gender dysphoria grow out of it by adulthood. Even so-called \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/articles\/PMC8612964\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">social transition<\/a>\u201d \u2014 identifying as the opposite sex in a social context regardless of medical intervention \u2014 has not been shown to <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >improve mental health outcomes<\/a> for children.<\/p>\n<p>The Cleveland Clinic has also promised to allocate millions to care for \u201cindividuals living with the harmful consequences of such misguided medical interventions performed on them as children and adolescents,\u201d otherwise known as detransitioners, regardless of whether they are able to pay.<\/p>\n<p>This is now the second settlement of its kind. The DOJ <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/justice-department-secures-landmark-resolution-end-pediatric-gender-affirming-care-and\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announced<\/a> on May 15 that it had come to a resolution with Texas Children\u2019s Hospital (TCH). The hospital pledged to end so-called \u201cgender affirming care\u201d and to pay millions in damages, including funding for detransitioners.<\/p>\n<p>These investigations are part of a larger trend of Americans rejecting trans ideology. A recent Gallup <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/06\/09\/poll-americans-moral-approval-of-changing-ones-gender-hits-record-low\/\">poll<\/a> found that a record low percentage of Americans \u2014 38 percent \u2014 find \u201cchanging one\u2019s gender\u201d morally acceptable. In the same poll, 57 percent of respondents said doing so was morally wrong.<\/p>\n<p>Many <a href=\"https:\/\/themisresourcefund.org\/detransitioner-cases\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">detransitioners<\/a> have also been taking legal action. A woman in New York state recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/02\/03\/health\/gender-surgery-malpractice-varian.html?eafs_enabled=false\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">won<\/a> $2 million in a medical malpractice suit over a double mastectomy she had at 16 years old. Detransitioner and activist Chloe Cole has also pursued <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dhillonlaw.com\/lawsuits\/chloe-cole-v-kaiser-permanente\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">legal action<\/a> over transgender interventions and surgeries that doctors performed on her as a minor.<\/p>\n<p>The DOJ said that it will continue to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/justice-department-secures-resolution-cleveland-clinic-end-pediatric-gender-affirming-care\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">investigate<\/a> other hospitals and medical institutions over this issue while acknowledging that both the Cleveland Clinic and TCH were cooperative.
