Sixty votes are needed to break a filibuster.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/congress\/republicans-pass-bill-fund-ice-border-patrol-end-trumps-term-rcna349197\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NBC News<\/a> reported that the Democratic filibuster resulted in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/jeffries-blames-house-gop-for-blocking-dhs-funding-over-ice\/\" title=\"Jeffries blames House GOP for blocking ... over ...\">longest partial government shutdown<\/a> in U.S. history, which lasted 75 days.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, Democrats allowed most of the DHS, including key agencies like the Transportation Security Administration and the Coast Guard, to be funded<a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2026\/04\/30\/nx-s1-5806054\/congress-dhs-shutdown\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> in April<\/a>, but only if funding the legislation split off funding for ICE and Customs and Border Protection \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbp.gov\/document\/publications\/cbp-organization-chart\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">which includes Border Patrol<\/a> and related agencies. Democrats cited the deaths of protesters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/renee-goods-family-hires-legal-team-represented-george-floyds-family\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Renee Good<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-new-alex-pretti-video-shows-disturbingly-unhinged-icu-nurse-flip-screaming-assault-spitting-ice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alex Pretti<\/a> during ICE operations in Minneapolis as the reason for their stand.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats demanded reforms, like requiring agents to wear no masks, use body cameras, and obtain judicial warrants before entering homes to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/one-in-four-illegal-aliens-released-into-u-s-without-registration-number\/\" title=\"One in Four Illegal Aliens Released Into U.S. Without Registration Number\">apprehend illegal aliens<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Given leftists groups\u2019 work to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/antifa-blog-doxxes-ice-incites-crime-little-consequence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> dox ICE agents<\/a> and their families, Border Czar <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/poll-finds-majority-americans-view-democrats-open-borders-party\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tom Homan<\/a> said the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/appeals-court-hands-trump-admin-major-victory-gavin-newsom-ice-battle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">no masks<\/a> demand was a non-starter. Further, ICE uses <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ice.gov\/immigration-enforcement-frequently-asked-questions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">administrative warrants<\/a>, when one is required, to apprehend illegal aliens. Requiring a judicial warrant for each apprehension would greatly limit the number of illegal aliens ICE could apprehend.<\/p>\n<p>More than 7 million aliens crossed illegally into the United States during former President Joe Biden\u2019s administration, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/short-reads\/2026\/02\/02\/migrant-encounters-at-the-us-mexico-border-are-at-their-lowest-level-in-more-than-50-years\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pew Research Center<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Following the passage of Tuesday\u2019s legislation funding ICE and Border Patrol, GOP Rep. Greg Steube of Florida said, \u201cHallelujah \u2014 they can\u2019t shut them down now,\u201d according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2026\/06\/09\/ice-funding-house-vote-reconciliation-00955114\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Politico<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Democratic Rep. Grace Meng of New York said, regarding the bill, \u201cWe are asking ICE to not cause chaos and decrease public safety in our neighborhoods.
