Ro Khanna said California should speed up ballot counting and tabulation, arguing that the current delays-nearly a week or more after Election Day in certain specific cases-undermine trust and fuel conspiracy theories. Citing a conversation with a friend who believed former Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt was \u201crobbed of an election,\u201d Khanna pointed to how Pratt\u2019s early lead disappeared and the voting wasn\u2019t called until June 8 even though Election Day was June 2.<\/p>\n<p>Khanna criticized California\u2019s process, which allows ballots to be counted if they\u2019re postmarked by Election Day and received up to seven days later, saying the state should aim to have most votes counted within 48 hours by investing in operational improvements. Gov.
