The updated list-released Monday-also includes major tech firms such as Alibaba and Baidu.<\/p>\n<p>The Pentagon says BYD is affiliated with Chinese state entities and describes it as a \u201cmilitary-civil fusion contributor,\u201d though a spokesperson did not provide additional details. BYD is meanwhile expanding its global EV footprint, outperforming Tesla for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/this-economic-week-ahead\/\" title=\"This Economic Week Ahead\">total vehicle sales<\/a> in 2025, and is preparing to launch models in North America at lower price points (with its entry-level Seagull not sold in the U.S., but planned for Canada).  <\/p>\n<p>The move has intensified political and industry concerns in the U.S., where some lawmakers and trade groups argue BYD\u2019s inexpensive vehicles threaten American competitiveness and national security. While President Trump has previously suggested China could invest or build plants in the U.S., the White House says national security won\u2019t be compromised. The company sold 2.26 million vehicles that year, a 28% increase from 2024. Tesla managed 1.64 million sales.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The entry-level BYD Seagull is not available in the United States, though it is set to launch in Canada by the end of the year for $25,000 Canadian dollars, roughly $18,000.
