Many of these <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gao.gov\/blog\/havana-syndrome-americans-affected-mysterious-symptoms-may-struggle-get-care\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">officials describe<\/a> a loud noise and intense pressure in the head and ears followed by symptoms including severe headaches, brain fog, blurred vision, tinnitus and vertigo.<\/p>\n<p>Five agencies in the intelligence community assess that it is \u201cvery unlikely\u201d to be caused by a foreign actor, according to a declassified <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dni.gov\/files\/ODNI\/documents\/assessments\/NIC-Unclassified-ICA-Updated-Assessment-AHI-December2024.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">January 2025 report<\/a>. One agency assesses that it is \u201clikely\u201d that a foreign actor developed a novel weapon that causes some Havana syndrome symptoms, while another agency assesses a roughly 50-50 likelihood.<\/p>\n<p>The full scope of intelligence about the source of the COVID-19 virus has garnered intense speculation and public interest since 2020.<\/p>\n<p>CIA whistleblower James Erdman III <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hsgac.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/letter-and-testimomy.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">testified to the Senate<\/a> in May that some in the intelligence community had suppressed evidence of a lab accident in Wuhan, China.<\/p>\n<p>In 2023, Congress unanimously passed a law to declassify intelligence related to the Wuhan Institute of Virology, the high security lab with ties to the Chinese military at the pandemic\u2019s center.
