Earlier, the center had labeled itself \u201cThe Trump Kennedy Center\u201d on its website and YouTube channel, but staff were instructed to begin making changes promptly as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/pennsylvania-governor-caves-to-teachers-union-on-school-choice\/\" title=\"PA Governor yields to teachers union on school choice.\">deadline neared<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The judge, Christopher Cooper, ruled that the name change must be handled by Congress rather than through Trump\u2019s board of trustees, and also blocked a planned two-year renovation. Additionally, Trump\u2019s name is still on the front of the venue.<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-paywall\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All references to Trump in the Kennedy Center\u2019s signage, digital materials, and branding must be removed by June 12. On May 29, U.S. District Judge <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/4588097\/who-is-judge-christopher-cooper-trump-kennedy-center\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/4588097\/who-is-judge-christopher-cooper-trump-kennedy-center\/\">Christopher Cooper<\/a> ruled as such after <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/4587976\/judge-prevents-kennedy-center-closure-forces-trump-name-removal\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/4587976\/judge-prevents-kennedy-center-closure-forces-trump-name-removal\/\">determining<\/a> that the name change was made unlawfully.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The lawsuit filed by Rep. Joyce Beatty (D-OH) argued <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/congress\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"31\">Congress<\/a> needed to rename the building because it \u201cnamed the center by statute\u201d following the 1963 assassination of President <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/john-f-kennedy\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"4031\">John F. Kennedy<\/a>. Trump wanted the lengthy renovation to <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/entertainment\/4539086\/inside-look-kennedy-center-two-year-renovation\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/entertainment\/4539086\/inside-look-kennedy-center-two-year-renovation\/\">repair the building<\/a>, which has suffered water damage and steel rusting over the years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI took great pride in taking over a losing Institution, and looked forward to making it into a Great and Prestigious WINNER for Washington, halting his Kennedy Center plans while criticizing the judge\u2019s wife, Amy Jeffress, an attorney who represents former President <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/joe-biden\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"471\">Joe Biden<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt was all being torn out to be replaced by brand new Carrier Equipment, at the highest standard,\u201d Trump <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/116664181157116570\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/lawfare\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"11776\">lawfare<\/a> hindering his agenda. \u201cNow that won\u2019t happen anymore because a Judge, whose wife is an anti Trump Hater, and he is too, decided, unprecedentedly, to not allow a desperately needed Building Renovation to go forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite the president\u2019s disapproval, Kennedy Center staff were instructed on Thursday to begin removing references to \u201cThe Trump Kennedy Center\u201d immediately.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"
