Time\">dying news media<\/a> like to do is frame President Trump\u2019s concerns with the Justice Department as though they\u2019re animated solely by personal vendetta, rather than legitimate matters of law and order that affect everyone. Look at how they\u2019re reacting to the president nominating Todd Blanche to <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/06\/05\/the-only-thing-toe-curling-about-doj-accountability-is-politicos-aversion-to-it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">serve as attorney general<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The New York Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/06\/04\/us\/politics\/trump-nominate-blanche-attorney-general.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> Trump was \u201celevating a trusted loyalist who has proved willing to execute the president\u2019s demands.\u201d The Washington Post, citing unnamed \u201ccritics,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/national-security\/2026\/06\/04\/trump-says-he-plans-nominate-todd-blanche-serve-attorney-general\/?utm_campaign=wp_main&#038;utm_source=twitter&#038;utm_medium=social\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> Blanche has \u201cabandoned standard Justice Department norms and continues to operate as if he were working as Trump\u2019s personal lawyer.\u201d CNN, having apparently hunted down those very same unnamed critics, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2026\/06\/03\/politics\/trump-expected-nominate-todd-blanche-attorney-general\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> Blanche, as the current acting attorney general, \u201chas effectuated the president\u2019s personal and political agenda to use the Justice Department as his own attack mechanism.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-4042351460\" class=\"d-flex justify-content-center fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2 fdrlst__b89e9-entity-placement\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1463670073398-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>This is another way of saying Blanche is likely to pursue objectives at odds with what the dying media would prefer. Namely, accountability for past wrongs that deserve to be righted. And with many of those wrongs, the media were complicit, most notably the Russia collusion hoax that they perpetuated along with the very same Justice Department that Blanche is set to oversee. Of course they\u2019ll want to undermine his role by characterizing him not as an upholder of the law but rather as a servant of the president\u2019s petty whims.<\/p>\n<p>The dying media pretend that Trump takes an interest in the DOJ because he intends to settle personal scores and so that\u2019s why he has nominated his former personal attorney for the job. But that\u2019s not even close.<\/p>\n<p>True, the president all but certainly does want justice for himself on a personal level. But also, he\u2019s the president and, by definition, he represents the country. That\u2019s all of us. It\u2019s a matter of historical record that this president and his political allies, plus many of his voters, were aggressively and unfairly targeted by the Justice Department. <\/p>\n<p>The DOJ set Trump up when President Obama was in office, having illegally spied on his campaign and leaked its investigations to the media with the intent of hurting Trump politically. He and others were also harassed all throughout the Biden years for, among other things, exercising their First Amendment right to question the 2020 election.<\/p>\n<p>Accounting for those injustices would understandably upset the dying media, given that they assisted in perpetuating them. And to uncover just how far those efforts went would undoubtedly demonstrate yet more corruption on behalf of The New York Times, The Washington Post, CNN, and the rest.<\/p>\n<p>They don\u2019t want that.
