It says they had already bought baby clothes and prepared a nursery, but chose to terminate the pregnancy rather than proceed with a child they expected would have that condition. It also alleges that outlets used euphemisms like \u201cterminate the pregnancy,\u201d and highlights that a TMZ host accepted the couple\u2019s framing about conceiving a future child without a genetic condition.<\/p>\n<p>In its conclusion, the piece argues that despite the author\u2019s focus on alleged media hypocrisy, the central \u201cevil,\u201d as it frames it, lies with the Ridgwys-portraying their decision as morally wrong and monetized through their online influence and the attention generated by the controversy.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>When Sydney Sweeney showed off her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=AK8s3iqL99c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cgreat <s>genes<\/s> jeans\u201d<\/a> in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/americaneagle\/videos\/1136711328284537\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">series<\/a> of playful American Eagle ads last summer, people \u2014 specifically the corporate media \u2014 feigned panic that the <em>Euphoria <\/em>actress\u2019 tastefully clothed curves were a clandestine campaign to promote the <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ClayTravis\/status\/1950198687344288224?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cAmerican eugenics movement\u201d<\/a> and white supremacy.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly one year later, a real-life example of the selective breeding ideology the press tried to pin on Sweeney\u2019s denim debuted in a viral post by a couple that aborted their unborn child after <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/McJuggerNuggets\/status\/2059734106225676507?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">learning<\/a> the baby might be born with Down Syndrome.<\/p>\n<p>Professional YouTube couple Jesse and Ashley Ridgway were more than halfway through their first pregnancy and had already <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/CollinRugg\/status\/2062602893065420914?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bought baby clothes and designed a nursery<\/a> when they decided birthing and raising a kid with Trisomy 21 would be too \u201crough.\u201d Just one month after the \u201cMcJuggerNuggets\u201d stars bragged about <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/06\/05\/if-youll-give-your-dog-surgery-but-abort-your-baby-youre-a-horrible-person\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">saving their dog with stage 4 kidney disease<\/a>, they solicited an abortionist to tear their unborn baby apart limb by limb simply because that baby likely had an extra chromosome.<\/p>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<p>Shortly after the abortion, Jesse turned to the Internet for sympathy over the \u201cvery difficult decision.\u201d In his June 3 X post, Jesse rejected a Down Syndrome diagnosis as a \u201cblessing,\u201d instead calling it a \u201cglitch\u201d and \u201cobjectively shitty.\u201d He concluded by teasing plans for a future pregnancy that would \u201chopefully have a better outcome.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs for us, we made a difficult decision that we believe in the long-run will be beneficial for our family. The ratio that dominated his post initially, however, didn\u2019t last long. Less than 48 hours into the kerfuffle, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/elon-musk-taps-jussie-smollett-hoaxer-for-twitter-censorship-advice\/\" title=\"Elon Musk Taps Jussie Smollett Hoaxer For Twitter Censorship Advice\">corporate media rushed<\/a> to uncritically cover the viral controversy and even give the Ridgways air cover for their actions.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/youtuber-jesse-ridgway-terminates-pregnancy-over-down-syndrome-sparks-debate-12035616\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Several<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/life-style\/jesse-ridgway-youtube-pregnancy-down-syndrome-b2990492.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">outlets<\/a> used euphemisms for abortion such as <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/nypost\/status\/2063019908644905365?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cterminate the pregnancy\u201d<\/a> to downplay the horrific reality that a couple paid for someone to murder their child for being different. Others such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/06\/06\/us\/down-syndrome-abortion-jesse-ridgway.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">New York Times<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/entertainment-arts\/story\/2026-06-04\/jesse-ridgway-says-couple-ended-pregnancy-post-down-syndrome-diagnosis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Los Angeles Times<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/entertainment\/celebrities\/2026\/06\/05\/jesse-ridgway-down-syndrome-pregnancy-mcjuggernuggets\/90418276007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">USA Today<\/a> blew past the untimely demise of the unborn baby to instead highlight the alleged \u201cdeath threats\u201d the Ridgways received. <\/p>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<p>One TMZ host immediately accepted the Ridgways\u2019 framing that aborting their first child will make room for them to conceive a baby without a genetic condition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHopefully you get pregnant again and everything works out,\u201d he quipped after interviewing the couple. <\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The influencer couple at the center of online controversy after ending a pregnancy following a Down syndrome diagnosis is opening up about why they chose to make their story public. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/3FXVBi1LS9\">pic.twitter.com\/3FXVBi1LS9<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 TMZ (@TMZ) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/TMZ\/status\/2062977212316336581?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 5, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The press\u2019 reaction to the Ridgways\u2019 murder of their unborn chid is unsurprising given their history of <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/08\/08\/corporate-media-claim-theres-no-such-thing-as-late-term-abortion-but-cry-when-it-is-paused\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">abortion<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/12\/new-poll-overlooks-americans-ignorance-of-ivf-to-overstate-majority-support-for-it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IVF<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/06\/08\/popular-genetic-testing-pits-unborn-siblings-against-each-other-and-the-highest-scorer-gets-to-live\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">handpicked breeding<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/09\/20\/media-activists-wont-grill-democrats-on-unpopular-abortion-extremism-because-they-agree-with-it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">activism<\/a>. But it is not without consequence.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/articles\/PMC10031387\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">majority of children<\/a> with Down Syndrome are aborted. These abortions are <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/06\/03\/viral-margaret-sanger-clip-reminds-us-that-planned-parenthood-victimizes-the-vulnerable\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">quite literally rooted in eugenics<\/a> and elective, chosen by the parents and only possible thanks to the radical abortion policies enacted by Democrats spurred on by the corporate media. They proliferate despite the fact that the survival rate and <a href=\"https:\/\/pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/articles\/PMC9411982\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">quality of life<\/a> for people born with Down Syndrome <a href=\"https:\/\/pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/articles\/PMC4547551\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">are the highest they have ever been<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/06\/05\/down-syndrome-babies-like-my-little-sister-in-law-are-not-defects\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/06\/05\/down-syndrome-babies-like-my-little-sister-in-law-are-not-defects\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">[RELATED:DownSyndromeBabiesLikeMyLittleSister-In-LawAreNotDefectsToEliminate[RELATED:DownSyndromeBabiesLikeMyLittleSister-In-LawAreNotDefectsToEliminate<\/a>]\n<p>Even if those expected to be born with Trisomy 21 weren\u2019t some of the happiest people on the planet, the mass murder of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/every-republican-in-america-should-follow-javier-mileis-masterclass-in-going-on-offense-against-abortion\/\" title=\"Republicans in America should learn from Javier Milei&#039;s effective approach in confronting the issue of ....\">unborn babies based<\/a> on their <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/08\/21\/destroying-embryos-for-eugenics-or-not-is-nothing-short-of-murder\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">physical attributes,\u00a0predicted IQ,<\/a> or potential for suffering is inherently and indisputably wrong. <\/p>\n<p>A corporate press that is willing to conjure a \u201ceugenics\u201d controversy out of nothing when real eugenics proliferates is corrupt and illegitimate. A press that platforms and promotes real eugenics is worse.<\/p>\n<p>The real evil, however, lies with the Ridgways, who not only murdered their baby but profited off of that murder and all of the attention they received from the press.
