Ohio\u2019s State Auditor Keith Faber stated Ohio\u2019s Medicaid program has meaningful fraud exposure,citing potentially up to $4.4 billion found in a single-state audit related to ineligible recipients. Following these issues,Gov. mike DeWine paused enrollment for home care and hospice providers while federal and state authorities investigate, and the U.S. Justice Department said it is indeed partnering with Ohio and using data-sharing to improve detection and prosecution.<\/p>\n<p>The article also references a related Minnesota scandal and notes federal charges announced June 4 against Ohio fraudsters accused of using Medicaid money intended for children\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/father-considers-lawsuit-against-gender-clinic-for-affirming-9-year-old-autistic-son-as-transgender-lesbian\/\" title=\"Father Considers Lawsuit Against Gender Clinic For Affirming 9-Year-Old Autistic Son As Transgender Lesbian\">behavioral health services<\/a> to buy luxury goods, including cars seized by authorities. An FBI director quoted in the piece framed the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/inspector-general-46-billion-in-covid-unemployment-subsidies-probably-went-to-fraudsters\/\" title=\"Inspector General: ...6 Billion In \u2018Covid\u2019 Unemployment Subsidies Probably Went To ...sters\">anti-fraud effort<\/a> as following the money.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Taxpayers in Ohio have lost an estimated <a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/release\/gill-opens-task-forces-first-hearing-on-ohio-medicaid-waiver-fraud\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">$1.2 billion<\/a> due to foreign fraudsters, according to testimony from a House Oversight Committee task force on Wednesday. Rep. Brandon Gill, R-Texas, called the hearing after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/author\/luke-rosiak\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Luke Rosiak<\/a> of the Daily Wire released a series of articles alleging <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/inside-ohios-home-health-empire-7-buildings-288-medicaid-companies-250-million?author=Luke+Rosiak&#038;category=News&#038;elementPosition=7&#038;row=0&#038;rowType=Vertical+List&#038;title=Inside+Ohio\u2019s+Home+Health+Empire%3A+7+Buildings%2C+288+Medicaid+Companies%2C+%24250+Million\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">billions of dollars<\/a> in Medicaid home care fraud in Ohio.<\/p>\n<p>Gill, the chairman of the task force, <span><a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/release\/gill-opens-task-forces-first-hearing-on-ohio-medicaid-waiver-fraud\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">explained<\/a><\/span>  how fraudsters in Ohio operate with little government oversight. According to Gill, they will find an elderly person, often a relative, and get a note from a doctor that says they qualify for in<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cvs-to-acquire-signify-health\/\" title=\"CVS to Acquire Signify Health\">-home health services<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Home care <a href=\"https:\/\/medlineplus.gov\/homecareservices.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">services<\/a> were designed for the elderly and those with special needs to have someone to take care of them inside their own home. Home care can include medical care, but oftentimes home care \u201cproviders\u201d perform basic tasks for their aging relatives \u2014 cooking, cleaning, and helping pay bills. This makes it incredibly easy for those wishing to commit fraud.<\/p>\n<p>After receiving the note from a doctor, the fraudster will <a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/release\/gill-opens-task-forces-first-hearing-on-ohio-medicaid-waiver-fraud\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">contract<\/a> with a \u201cHome Health business,\u201d Gill said, many of which are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/fraud-division-announces-federal-state-partnership-ohio-prosecute-fraud\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">shell companies<\/a>. \u201cThe business then facilitates Medicaid payments from the taxpayer to the fraudster, while taking a cut off the top.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ohio is home to the largest Somalian population in America outside of Minnesota, and the largest Bhutanese population in the world outside of Bhutan. Rosiak, who testified at the hearing, said almost all of the fraud he witnessed in Columbus during his investigation was among \u201cforeign born people,\u201d mostly from Somalia and Bhutan.<\/p>\n<p>Rosiak <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=pMfqlLi0VXA&#038;t=2s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a> the task force about one Bhutanese family, the Adhikari\u2019s, who he says has received over $350 million just from Medicaid in Ohio alone. Therefore, Rosiak claims the Bhutanese family has made around 10% of Bhutan\u2019s GDP by defrauding United States taxpayers.<\/p>\n<p>State authorities seem to validate Rosiak\u2019s findings. Ohio State Auditor Keith Faber gave testimony at the hearing and indicated that there has been significant fraud in the state: \u201cIn this year\u2019s single state audit, which is a rigorous, comprehensive financial compliance audit, we identified potentially up to $4.4 billion in fraud-related exposure connected to ineligible recipients in Ohio\u2019s Medicaid program.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Amid recent findings, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine <a href=\"https:\/\/aging.ohio.gov\/see-news-and-events\/provider+memos\/provider-memo-may-15-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">paused<\/a> enrollment for home care and hospice providers while the state works with federal authorities to investigate the situation. The Justice Department\u2019s Fraud Division announced that they are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/fraud-division-announces-federal-state-partnership-ohio-prosecute-fraud\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">partnering<\/a> with the state of Ohio to prosecute fraud, and the partnership includes a \u201cdata sharing agreement to enhance the detection and prosecution of fraud.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Unlike DeWine, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz did not cooperate with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/releases\/2025\/12\/yes-theres-something-wrong-with-walz-and-it-cost-taxpayers-1-billion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">federal government<\/a> when a similar scandal took place in his state. In December 2025, federal prosecutors <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/12\/03\/scamming-somalis-are-the-love-children-of-dems-mass-welfare-and-immigration-policies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">discovered<\/a> that fraudsters, which included many Somalians, in Minnesota had stolen hundreds of millions of dollars from taxpayers through elaborate schemes including fake nonprofits and daycare centers. After President Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-walz-minnesota-somalis-immigration-fraud-6687c05ad48faf1076c060ea7b2cb458\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">criticized<\/a> Somali migration in light of the scandal, Walz jumped to defend the Somali community, calling Trump\u2019s words \u201cunprecedented.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Federal authorities <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/06\/04\/us-news\/feds-charge-ohio-fraudsters-with-stealing-30m-meant-for-behavioral-health-program-to-buy-luxury-cars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announced<\/a> June 4 that they charged several Ohio fraudsters who committed Medicaid fraud to fund their lavish lifestyles. Multiple suspects were charged with over 30 counts for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/fraud-ring-children-behavioral-health-services\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">stealing<\/a> funds that were supposed to go to behavioral health services for children. The gang spent approximately 30 million dollars of taxpayer money to buy luxury cars, 14 of which were seized by authorities.<\/p>\n<p>FBI Director Kash Patel put his mission simply in a press <a href=\"https:\/\/spectrumnews1.com\/oh\/cleveland\/news\/2026\/06\/04\/ohio-teams-up-with-fbi-to-crack-down-fraud\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">conference<\/a> about the issue: \u201cWhat is the FBI doing to combat fraud?
